Early playoff exits for the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers could have contributed to another down month for Pennsylvania sportsbooks. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported that operators produced $782.4 million in handle and $95.6 million in revenue last month.

Handle was down year-over-year at a 10.4% rate, likely because of the Eagles’ first-round loss to the 49ers last month, along with the Steelers’ loss to the Texans. During the Super Bowl run in 2025, the Eagles played three January playoff games at Lincoln Financial Field.

Not only was handle down from last year, it was down from last month, too, at a 1.9% rate.

Fanatics takes back third spot

While Fanatics launched much later than BetMGM in Pennsylvania, the operator displayed an impressive football season.

TheScore Bet increases market share

The second full month of theScore Bet saw a slight improvement in market share. The operator achieved 4.1%, which is an improvement from the 3.9% in December.

It still finished sixth in handle, generating $32.1 million, behind bet365 Sportsbook, which produced $39 million. Former ESPN BET sportsbook theScore still has a long way to go before it is considered a top platform in the Keystone State.

Operators dominated the latter part of football season

The public did not have as much success down the stretch of the football season. However, they did get off to a decent start.

Hold rates were in the single digits the first half of the year, while operators got their licks back in the second half. Hold rates are as follows throughout the season:

  • September: 8.4%
  • October: 9.5%
  • November: 12.7%
  • December: 13.0%
  • January: 12.2%
