Disclaimer: BetMGM Sportsbook is not live in Pennsylvania. This review is based on its offering in other states, and will be updated when the sportsbook launches here.
MGM Resorts is one of the most recognized brands in the world when it comes to gaming, casinos and resorts. Of course, everyone knows the iconic MGM Resorts on the Las Vegas Strip, but it also has successful outlets with MGM National Harbor in Washington, MGM Springfield in Boston and properties in China. Very quickly, it has established a strong presence in the world of online sports betting, too.
Although MGM is not as well known (as of yet) for online sports betting as Will Hill, DraftKings or FanDuel, it’s quickly gaining a foothold in the business because so many players like the product. It’s had a number of successful launches around the United States, and it’s likely just a matter of time until it arrives in Pennsylvania. Let’s take a closer look at what this world-class company offers in the way of sports betting online.
Based on promotions in other states, when you open an account with BetMGM Sportsbook you’ll get a first-time deposit bonus up to $500. How it works is when you make your first deposit, BetMGM will match you up to $500 and credit you with a risk-free bet. In other words, if you open a new account today and deposit $250, you’ll receive a $250 risk-free bet. If you deposit $500, you’ll receive a $500 risk-free bet.
How this bonus works is if you bet and lose, then it’s no real loss for you as BetMGM will refund the amount of the bet in the form of bonus bets. However, if you bet and win, you get to keep the winnings.
Make sure to check back here for any required BetMGM Sportsbook bonus code before you make a deposit.

We spent a lot of time testing the BetMGM sportsbook app, not only on Android and iOS, but also across many generations and brands. While we’ll get to the user experience in a minute, we just wanted to highlight that we found the app worked very smoothly for every phone that we used.
When we first tapped into the app, we had the impression that maybe this would be a scaled down version of the desktop sportsbook, but we were pleasantly surprised. Everything that is available to you from the web version is packed into the app. That means that whether you need to make a deposit, want to place a bet or are reaching out for help, it’s all right at your fingertips.
The navigation portion of this was very comfortable, too, as BetMGM has clearly done work with UI/UX experts. If you’re not overly familiar with what that means, the idea behind UI/UX is to make it so that when people pick up the app, they naturally know where to look to find certain things and aren’t confused or struggling to figure it out. We found the transition from the website to the app quite smooth.
In terms of what’s available in the app, of course you can deposit funds, withdraw funds, bet on sports, get into some live betting, get help, make changes to your profile/account, play in contests, peruse the lines and much more. It’s done a really good job with this. Given the brand behind this, we’re not all that surprised.
To see what Pennsylvania bettors should expect when BetMGM Sportsbook arrives, we looked at the New Jersey version, which is up and running. The BetMGM website has a really clean look to it with a mostly white, gold, gray and black color scheme. Some sportsbook websites are loud and busy; this one is clean, clear and organized.
When you first hit the homepage, you’ll find a section at the top with all of the sports categories. We really appreciated this as it allows you to quickly get into the lines that you’re looking for. The typical sportsbook layout is to have the sections down the left side. Of course, BetMGM also does that here to have that handy redundancy, but it has the main sections at the top, so you can quickly get to where you need to go.
Another useful section it has is the major live betting events on a scroller right from the top of the page. A lot of books will jam the top of the page with promos, contests and news, but BetMGM focuses on the betting lines here. That means that if you want to get right into what’s live and on the go, that’s available for you right away.
When you do end up picking a sport, the lines will reveal in the center of the page. That’s about the standard that you’ll see everywhere. What we did enjoy is that when you open up the lines — say, for the NFL — you’ll see the games that are live at the very top followed by the games that have yet to start. Many books will keep the live action separate, but this offers you another way to get to the in-game wagering if you need it.
Speaking of the live, in-game betting pages, they do a pretty good job with these. We pulled up a few random NBA games on a Tuesday night and found hundreds of different props running for each game. Of course, you can bet the spread, moneyline and total as the lines shift around, but it’s nice to have this type of variety available to you with props and everything else. BetMGM even has some useful stats and a little graphic to show you who has the ball, who has just made a basket and so on. Occasionally — usually on more obscure sports — they’ll have live streaming from the sportsbook itself, which is a nice touch.
When you do find a bet that you like and click it, you’ll see the bet slip open up on the right side, which is standard. From there, you can enter how much you want to bet on the games, play a parlay and so on.
Overall, the website is fantastic. It’s really one of the best experiences we’ve had with an online sportsbook. BetMGM has done a great job with this.
Registering for a new account at BetMGM is a breeze as the entire process — from start to finish — takes a couple of minutes. All it’s going to require is some basic information, then you’ll have to verify that you’re of age and a resident of the state, and you’re good to go. We’ll walk you through the process right here.
Once your account is ready and you’ve made a deposit, you can go ahead and bet on sports right away. BetMGM actually has a casino and poker too, so you can use that same money to play there, as well.
One of the questions people ask about online sportsbooks (when comparing versus land-based) is whether they have loyalty programs. After all, most of us know that if you’re betting pretty regularly at a casino, it’ll hook you up with comps like free drinks, food and even hotel stays. Of course, MGM is well-known for taking good care of its regulars in person, and it does the same online, too.
In addition to the welcome bonus, BetMGM also offers a loyalty program that can be quite rewarding to those who play. It’s quite simple: the more you play, the more you earn. You can pick up comps in many different forms: they can be MGM Express Comps, cash, bonuses and incentives at the Rewards Store.
How it works is when you play, you’ll collect iReward Points. There’s nothing that you really have to do on your end as everything is tallied automatically for you. If you want to then turn those into MGM Express Comps, you can actually use them at land-based properties for various things like free meals or show tickets. If you’d prefer to stick with the online route, you can swap your collected iReward Points for different cash incentives or bonuses — both of which can be used for the casino and poker room as well. Lastly, you can also use the points in the Rewards Store, which is where you’ll find all sorts of different swag. That could include things like iPads, clothing, Bluetooth speakers and more.
In terms of how these points pile up, it merely depends on what you’re playing. With casino games, you’ll pick up the points much faster than the sportsbook. However, the more you play across the different channels, the more you’ll earn.
We’ve already covered the deposit bonus and the loyalty program, so you’re up to speed on those. However, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Let’s take a look at some of the other bonuses BetMGM is offering. Keep in mind that some of these change seasonally:
The most important thing that you’ll care about at BetMGM is what’s offered. After all, you’re there to (mostly) bet on sports, so the lines are what’s important. In this section, we’re going to take a closer look at all of the options on the board, so that you have an idea of what to expect.
In terms of the sports offered, you’re going to feel as if you’re walking into a Las Vegas buffet. Of course, it will have all of the major action like the NFL, college football, NBA, NHL, college basketball, baseball and more. What we really appreciated is how BetMGM goes a step further than just offering the basics.
You’d expect every book to have soccer, golf, tennis, XFL and mixed martial arts, but where BetMGM goes beyond is with the sheer volume of lines in each sport. Golf is a great example, as we’ve seen many books that will simply post a line on who’ll be the winner of this week’s PGA Tour event. However, for a random golf event that we checked, BetMGM had the general futures along with 28 separate matchups to bet as well as props on who’ll be the first-round leader, and it even offered a price boost on three players. Beyond that, it had lines up on the European Tour, early lines on all of the four majors, Ryder Cup, PGA Tour money list props and a few various specials. That goes to show you just how much BetMGM goes all out for golf; imagine what it’s like for something like the NFL or NBA.
Beyond that, we’d also like to highlight the live betting. Every game of every major sport had live lines, which means if you feel like joining the in-game action for the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL or college sports, there’ll always be a line on the board. We even found some in-game action on some obscure indoor tennis that was happening. Beyond that, it’s not just a point spread or a moneyline that BetMGM is offering; you’ll find those regular lines along with hundreds of props. You really get a lot of variety here.
In terms of the type of bets that you’ll find at this sportsbook, of course it carries all of the basics like spreads, money lines and totals. It’ll have run lines and a puck lines for all baseball and hockey games, too. Usually, it’ll have alternate run lines and other totals you can bet on the props. Speaking of props, it has tons of player and team props in all of the sports on the board.
It also has a big selection of futures, which it updates regularly. It’s not just a line that it puts up in the preseason and then rehangs when the playoffs arrive; BetMGM is frequently updating and posting odds to win divisions, conferences, championships and more. For those looking for exotics, of course you have parlays, teasers, round robins and more here.
If you’re looking for action beyond the sportsbook, remember that you can always hop on over to the casino, too. You can get a separate 100% deposit bonus up to $1,000 and then use that to have some fun with the huge selection of games. It has tons of slots, live dealer games, all of the classic table games and more.
It’s really hard to be bored here as you’ll always have some kind of action on the board.
One of the most important aspects of online betting is how you get your money in and out. The good news is BetMGM is a legal, licensed operator, so it has a lot of really easy ways to deposit and withdraw your funds.
Let’s start with the deposit side of banking:
The minimum deposit for every single one of these methods is $10.
Now that we’ve covered how you get your money in, here’s a look at the methods you can use to get your money out. Of note, you can’t use credit cards or debit cards for withdrawals.
If you need any assistance with anything at BetMGM, it’s nice to know that it’ll have someone available for you 24/7/365. You can reach out via live chat, which is right on the website.
You can also reach out with an email to [email protected]. It usually takes about one business day for a response.
Lastly, make sure you check out the FAQ section as a lot of the most common questions are already answered in there.
