Disclaimer: BetMGM Online Poker is not yet live in Pennsylvania. We expect it to launch shortly. This review is speculative based on BetMGM Poker in other states, and will be updated once the site is live in PA.
What do you get when you combine a quartet of powerful players in the gambling world? Simple: BetMGM Poker. Licensed and legal in Pennsylvania, this online poker site has links to Entain (formerly GVC Holdings), MGM Resorts, Penn National Gaming and Partypoker. That’s four of the biggest names in betting, and they’ve all helped to make BetMGM a top-class poker app.
In this review, we’ve picked out all the site’s best features and suggested a few places it could improve. That means you’ll learn about a welcome bonus worth up to $1,025, a fantastic app and a wealth of poker tournaments, including World Poker Tour events. So, if you’re curious about signing up to BetMGM Poker, keep reading.
When you join BetMGM Poker, there are plenty of added extras to collect. How good are these added extras? Well, from what we’ve seen, they’re very good. In fact, when you use our BetMGM Poker bonus code, you’ll unlock one of the best new player promos in Pennsylvania.
Before we dive into the nuances of the BetMGM welcome bonus, it’s important to note that you’ll need to use the promo code listed below. To ensure you get the offer you expect, here are the steps you need to take in order to get up to $1,025:
|Online Poker Room||BetMGM PA|
|No deposit bonus||$25|
|Last updated||February 2021|
As long as you’re old enough and located in Pennsylvania, you can get the BetMGM new player bonus when you follow the steps above. As far as the benefits, you’ll receive a $25 no deposit bonus as mentioned. This reward is credited to your account as soon as you register.
Once you’ve claimed your no deposit bonus, you can deposit at least $10 into your account, and BetMGM will match it. The maximum bonus is $1,000, meaning the welcome offer as a whole is worth up to $1,025. That’s a significant sum of money. What’s more, it’s one of the best online poker bonuses in Pennsylvania.
Your bonus credits won’t be released instantly. Instead, BetMGM will add them to your account in stages. Each incremental payment will be worth 10% of the total bonus amount. For example, if you claimed a $100 bonus, the payments would come in $10 increments. To release an incremental payment, you’ll need to earn 20x its value in iRewards Points.
So, in this example, you’d need to earn 200 iRewards Points (10 x 20 = 200) to unlock $10 of your bonus. To earn 5.6 iRPs, you need to rake $1 in tournaments or cash games. Therefore, in this example, you’d have to rake $35.71 to release $10: 200 iRPs / 5.6 x $1 = $35.71.
That works out to be a rakeback rate of 28%. When you compare that to what you’d receive elsewhere in Pennsylvania, the US or the world as a whole, it’s impressive. Any time you can get 28% rakeback, you should take it.
The 28% rakeback you can get via the BetMGM welcome bonus isn’t available for existing customers, however. In other words, the introductory offer doesn’t last forever. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get something extra as a regular. In fact, you can actually get quite a lot as a regular.
Whenever you play for real money, you’ll earn iRPs. The more iRPs you earn, the better your VIP status becomes and the more lucrative the rewards will be. What’s most impressive about the BetMGM loyalty program (known as M life) is that it’s available across all MGM platforms. This means you can earn iRPs when you use BetMGM Poker, BetMGM Sports and BetMGM Casino PA.
You also earn iRPs at other online sites linked to MGM. Finally, you can pick up points by playing live games inside MGM casinos around the world. Basically, you’ll have myriad ways to get something extra when you play poker or casino games, or bet on sports with MGM.
In terms of what you can get, that all depends on your status. Everyone starts as a Sapphire VIP. However, as you earn points, you’ll move up the rankings and unlock additional rewards.
Because BetMGM Poker has been built on the foundations of Partypoker’s platform, it performs like an app that’s been around for decades. Of course, we know that it hasn’t. However, you’d never know that thanks to the way it’s been put together.
From a general perspective, tabs allow you to move from cash games to tournaments. The list of games is fairly stable, and, during our review, there was very little lag. This is important because lag can cause you to miss out on a seat in a cash game or tournament. There were no such issues during our tests.
For us, the feature that stood out the most was the favorites option. When you find something you like, BetMGM’s software allows you to highlight it with a star. This adds it to your list of favorite games so you can get easy access to it every time you log in. In line with this customization feature, the BetMGM Poker app also has a “my tourneys” tab. There you’ll find all the multi-table tournaments you’ve registered for, which, again, means you can navigate directly to the games you want to play.
To download BetMGM Poker in Pennsylvania, you need to be located in the state. The steps below will get you to the point where you can log in and play via any device. However, an important step in the process you need to note is the bit where you have to enable the geolocation software.
Basically, you’ll need to enable the geolocation tracker during the download process. You may have to do it each time you use the BetMGM app or if you use different devices. However, once you’ve done this, the tracker should automatically run each time you log in.
If you block the tracker or you’re not located in the Keystone State, the app won’t work. Pennsylvania online poker laws state that all customers must be 21 or older and within state lines. So, if you want to use BetMGM Poker, you’ll need to comply with this part of the process.

BetMGM Poker in Pennsylvania is part of the Partypoker network. It’s tricky to get a read on how active this network is because, at the time of this writing, it was still fairly new. However, from what we know about its counterpart in New Jersey, there’s plenty of low-stakes action.
On an average day, BetMGM Poker NJ attracts just over 200 cash game players. Most of these are concentrated at $25 no limit and $50 no limit. There are a handful of games at higher stakes. These are more active when there are major multi-table tournaments, but, as the site grows in stature, you can expect high stakes games to run more frequently.
In terms of what you can play at BetMGM in Pennsylvania, you’ll find the following options:
The main cash game variant at BetMGM is Texas Hold’em. That’s to be expected. However, the lineup receives a boost from the presence of FastForward. This is BetMGM’s fast-fold technology, and games are available at $10NL and $50NL. FastForward is great because you move to a new table (and, therefore, a new hand) each time you fold.
Alongside No Limit and Fixed Limit Texas Hold’em, BetMGM Poker PA features a selection of Pot-Limit Omaha tables. Games can run as high as $25/$50 and, during our review, we did see a few players waiting at those tables.
Rounding out the selection of cash games at BetMGM is seven card stud. Stakes run from $0.10/$0.25 to $5/$10. There isn’t a ton of action, but, as the site evolves and more players join, there should be some activity in the future.
BetMGM Poker doesn’t have any lottery-style sit and go tournaments like PokerStars PA (i.e., spin and go). However, it does have a selection of Texas Hold’em and Omaha games that span all variants. From full-ring standard speed games to heads-up hyper turbos, there’s plenty of choice. In fact, buy-ins range from $1 to $500.
The most impressive SNG tournaments at BetMGM are the qualifiers. As well as giving you an affordable way to play weekly majors such as the Sunday $100K, these satellites give you a chance to play WPT events. It’s important to note that there won’t always by WPT qualifiers. However, when certain events are running, you should be able to find SNG satellites.
MTTs are a mixed bag at BetMGM Poker, and we mean that in a positive way. For newbies and novices, there are plenty of freerolls and tournaments costing as little as $0.25. For those with bigger bankrolls, daily and weekly events can cost $500 and up. However, what’s great about those MTTs is that guarantees range from $10,000 to $100,000.
The proverbial icing on BetMGM’s MTT cake are WPT tournaments. These may not be as readily available in Pennsylvania as they are in New Jersey. However, thanks to the operator’s links with Partypoker and, thus, the WPT, you’ll likely have access to some of the biggest live and online events in the world. In our opinion, that’s definitely an ace in the hole for BetMGM.
You can play for free at BetMGM Poker. However, unless it’s a freeroll with cash prizes, demo games don’t allow you to win real money. To test your skills against Pennsylvania’s finest, you’ll have to make a deposit. Since BetMGM is a licensed and regulated operator, you can trust it to keep your money safe.
It does this in three ways. Firstly, the site is protected by SSL encryption software. Second, it only offers reputable payment options. Third, it holds all player funds in secure bank accounts. Therefore, when it comes to keeping your bankroll safe, BetMGM has it covered.
To make a deposit of at least $10, log in to your account and visit the cashier page. If it’s your first deposit, make sure you’ve used the bonus code. You can select one of the following payment methods to complete your deposit:
To withdraw $20 or more from BetMGM Poker in Pennsylvania, go to the cashier page. All requests will, typically, be processed within 24 hours when you use one of these methods:
The BetMGM FAQ is fairly comprehensive and should answer most basic questions you have. However, if you need a more direct form of support, you can contact the BetMGM Poker support team 24/7 via these methods:
Yes. BetMGM is licensed by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board and has partnered with Penn National Gaming’s Hollywood Casino. That means it has a local partner as well as a legal, licensed and reputable online parent company. Just remember that you need to be 21 or older and located in Pennsylvania to access this site.

In turn, that’s allowed BetMGM Poker to offer a wealth of world-class features.
