PokerStars is officially closing its standalone online poker platform in Pennsylvania, but the brand itself isn’t disappearing.
Instead, PokerStars will live on inside the FanDuel Casino platform as part of Flutter Entertainment’s broader strategy to consolidate its US iGaming products.
PokerStars platform closing April 1
PokerStars recently notified customers that its poker and iGaming platform, which consisted of some online slots, will shut down on April 1.
After that date, players will no longer be able to access games through the PokerStars app or website.
However, this does not mark the end of PokerStars as a brand. Instead, it signals a shift away from a standalone platform toward integration within FanDuel.
Account access continues through April 30
While gameplay ends April 1, players will still have time to manage their accounts.
PokerStars confirmed that accounts will remain accessible until April 30. During that window, users can:
- Withdraw remaining balances
- Review account and transaction history
- Update personal details
Any funds not withdrawn by April 30 will be mailed to the address on file as a physical check.
Brand transitions, not disappearing
The key takeaway for Pennsylvania players is that PokerStars is not being eliminated.
Flutter, which owns both operators, is folding the poker product into the FanDuel platform. That means elements of the PokerStars experience, such as branding or shared player pools, will continue under the FanDuel umbrella.
However, the dedicated poker app and platform will no longer operate.
What this means for the poker industry
One major casualty of the transition is the PokerStars app itself. According to an FAQ section, Flutter explained the merger and what players can still expect:
“PokerStars is joining forces with FanDuel to bring together two of the biggest names in gaming under one powerful platform.
“This move merges player liquidity for bigger prize pools, larger guarantees, and more exciting competition in the United States.”
Why Flutter is making the move
The change reflects a broader strategy by Flutter to streamline its US operations.
FanDuel has emerged as one of the strongest brands in online gambling, particularly in iGaming and sports wagering. By consolidating platforms, Flutter can focus on a single ecosystem rather than splitting resources across multiple standalone apps.
Pennsylvania, as one of the largest online casinos markets in the country, is central to that strategy.
What players should do now
With deadlines approaching, Pennsylvania players should:
- Withdraw funds before April 30
- Double-check account details, especially mailing address
- Save any necessary account or tax records
Customer support remains available via email for any questions related to the shutdown.
