June is the beginning of a summer slide for Pennsylvania sportsbooks as the sports calendar starts to lighten. However, operators can still prosper during these lean months.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported that PA sportsbook operators produced $483.6 million in handle and $66.8 million in revenue for June.

Revenue for last month represents a month-over-month decrease of 12.2% but a whopping year-over-year increase of 55.3%.

Players take a hit in June

Pennsylvania sportsbooks had a terrific month by June standards. Not only did revenue increase massively from last June, handle also increased year-over-year by 4.1%.

The revenue increase can be attributed mainly to hold percentage, which clocked in at 13.8%. That is easily the highest percentage of 2025.

Not surprisingly, FanDuel Sportsbook led the market in both handle and revenue. The company generated $164 million in handle and an impressive $28.8 million in revenue.

DraftKings, Fanatics, ESPN Bet and bet365 Sportsbook are among other operators that posted double-digit hold rates.

Fanatics turns in strong month

Fanatics Sportsbook has been a formidable operator ever since launching its product in 2024. It delivered another strong month in June.

The operator finished fourth in handle, behind the usual titans of FanDuel, DraftKings and BetMGM. It also posted the second-best hold rate of any online operator at 14.8%.

The upcoming football season is going to be a barometer for Fanatics. Can it run down BetMGM to become the third operator in the Keystone State?

ESPN Bet shows improvement

Since PENN Entertainment’s split from Barstool, all eyes have been on its new partnership with ESPN. June’s $2.5 million in revenue has given both sides a ray of hope.

ESPN Bet has been struggling to acquire meaningful market share in 2025:

  • January: 4.8%
  • February: 3.7%
  • March: 4.2%
  • April: 4.5%
  • May: 4.2%
  • June: 4.5%

ESPN Bet has waffled back and forth from 4.2% to 4.5% over the last few months. The two have an opt-out clause in 2026, which makes the upcoming football season key for the partnership.
