The Cordish Companies, which own Live! Casino Philadelphia, has proposed a $15 million expansion plan in the Stadium District that would enhance the viewing and entertainment experience for Philadelphia sports fans.
The upgrades to the area would be right outside Live! Casino Philadelphia, which has been a relatively new addition, as the property is located within steps of each stadium in South Philly.
Live! Casino Philadelphia opened in 2021 and has been a popular destination for fans to enjoy a gaming experience before, during or after a Philadelphia sporting event.
The new upgrades would bring more fans into the area, which could potentially spill over into the casino.
Potential upgrades coming to Stadium District
Philadelphia is one of the only cities in the country to have all four major sports in the same complex. The Cordish Companies capitalized on that by opening Xfinity Live!, a popular bar, and Live! Casino Philadelphia.
Ownership wants to expand on the current landscape of the area. The Cordish Companies has plans of adding a two-story building featuring an upscale rooftop oasis. Other updates include:
- Open-air beer garden perfect for social gatherings
- Crush Bar featuring a variety of refreshing hand-squeezed Crush drinks
- Major expansion of PBR Cowboy Bar, with an outdoor backyard area featuring a stage and new bar offerings
- Upgraded turf area, providing a versatile space for various activities and community activations
- Dedicated area to host rotating local Philadelphia food trucks
- State-of-the-art AV, including LED screens for dynamic sports watching
- Public art installations integrated throughout the plaza creating a sense of community to the upgraded space
Blake Cordish, Principal of The Cordish Companies, said in a press release:
“We are proud to continue investing in South Philadelphia to create an unparalleled experience for guests and fans. This investment reflects our commitment to create a gathering space for festivals, sports viewing, and community events unlike anything in the area.
We look forward to offering an enhanced experience that will continue to make Xfinity Live! the heart of Philadelphia’s Sports Complex for years to come.”
The project is expected to be completed in early 2026.
Xfinity Live! to get $2 million facelift
Aside from Live! Casino Philadelphia, Xfinity Live! is another destination in the sports complex that attracts Philadelphia sports fans. The bar will also undergo improvements to enhance the viewing experience for fans.
The Cordish Companies is renovating Broad Street Bullies Pub into the NBC Sports Arena, which also includes an expansion of Chickie & Pete’s, additional LED screens, a new indoor/outdoor bar, and a major outdoor patio.
Erin Seifert, Director of Operations for Xfinity Live!, said of the renovations:
“We are thrilled to unveil our vision for the new community plaza and continue interior upgrades at Xfinity Live!.
The expanded plaza at Xfinity Live! will serve as a central hub for the Sports Complex, with new offerings such as an open-air beer garden, enhanced bar space, and outdoor gathering areas. We look forward to welcoming more guests and fans than ever before.”
The new plans would drive many more fans into South Philadelphia, especially those that don’t have tickets to the game. The Cordish Companies have already contributed $800 million in the Sports Complex. It clearly wants to build on it.
