In Powerball news, lots of lower-tier winners are kicking themselves for not paying the extra $1 for the Power Play option after Saturday’s drawing. Those who did use Power Play are benefiting from the rare 10x mulitplier that was drawn.
Winning Power Play tickets will have their prizes multiplied by 10. This includes four players who matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball, who will take home $500,000 each instead of the usual $50,000 for that win. Another 288 tickets would have won $100 each, but with the multiplier they are worth $1,000. Thousands of others had their $4 and $7 wins multiplied as well.
Other than that, the first drawing since the Powerball jackpot reset was pretty uneventful. There were no Grand Prize or Match 5 winners. Today’s drawing on Jan. 10 offers an estimated jackpot of $27 million, with a cash value of $18.7 million.
