Pennsylvania online casinos raised the bar for the US iGaming market once again in March. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) reported that online casinos in the state produced $294.2 million in revenue for the month, which is a new single-month US record.

New Jersey and Michigan online casinos similarly set records for their respective markets in March. Those figures came last week. Given its greater population, it’s unsurprising that the Keystone State would top both figures, but it did so in a big way.

Pennsylvania easily cleared the previous record of $281.2 million that was set last December. Revenue has decreased in the first two months of 2025, a potential indication that growth was slowing.

However, March’s figure puts that to rest, as the experienced a month-over-month increase of 12.5% and a year-over-year increase of 26.2%.

  • Table games revenue: $56,157,485
  • Online poker revenue: $2,556,800

Quick analysis from March PA iGaming figures

Slots reach $7 billion lifetime milestone

In the process of breaking a US record, Pennsylvania slots crossed an illustrious milestone in last month. The vertical reached $7 billion in all-time revenue after generating $235.5 million in March.

Slots have accounted for 76% of lifetime revenue. Because of March’s massive total, slots revenue percentage increase to 80%, which is the second time that’s already happened this year. It also happened in January.

Slots are unquestionably the most popular games individuals play, as operators offer thousands of exciting titles. It appears customers played them even more in March.

Online casinos to cross $1 billion YTD in April

Despite the slowed growth in January and February, there is no denying that online casinos still produced gaudy numbers, in terms of revenue. The industry generated $823.7 million in Q1 2025.

To put that into perspective, online casinos recorded only $637.7 million in revenue during the same period last year. In fact, it didn’t cross the $1 billion mark until May of last year.

Being only $176.3 million away from $1 billion, the vertical is expected to cross that threshold, rather easily, in April, a month earlier than 2024.

Hollywood Penn National license reaches an all-time high

The PGCB does not break down revenue by operator, so it’s difficult to see the exact contributions from platforms. The Hollywood Penn National license set a record in March, recording $109.5 million in revenue.

Granted, the license has two of the top three market leaders, which include DraftKings Casino and BetMGM Online Casino. The success of those two operators goes without saying.

Hollywood is also partnered with its own brand, along with Fanatics Casino. Both platforms have made sustainable progress over the last several months. Since launching a new standalone app in December, PENN Entertainment released the following statistics about the Hollywood platform:

  • +16% average weekly users
  • +38% average weekly gross gaming revenue
  • +35% average weekly net gaming revenue

DraftKings and BetMGM get the majority of the attention, and rightfully so. However, smaller players such as Hollywood and Fanatics making improvements certainly help, too.
