Live! Casino Pittsburgh has received approval to operate for another five years after the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board unanimously renewed its casino license on Oct. 14. The decision comes as the Westmoreland County property approaches its sixth anniversary in November.
The PGCB’s announcement said the operator had met its obligations under its existing Category 4 mini-casino license. The review included public testimony and an examination of the casino’s operations and community impact.
Located at Westmoreland Mall in Greensburg, Live! Casino Pittsburgh opened in November 2020. Its renewal presentation highlighted nearly $11.9 million in property investments from 2021 through 2025, including upgrades to its slots, poker room, and high-limit gaming area.
Poker and high-limit rooms among property upgrades
The casino’s renewal presentation reported approximately $2.8 million in spending on new slot machines and about $1.5 million on the poker room. The six-table poker room occupies roughly 1,400 square feet and offers weekly tournaments and daily promotions.
Another $1.7 million went toward the high-limit table games area, which opened in November 2024. The room features two blackjack tables, one baccarat table, and a bar.
Beyond the gaming floor, Live! invested nearly $2 million in The Venue’s banquet facilities. The event space spans approximately 7,000 square feet and hosts concerts, comedy shows, and private functions.
Slots and sportsbook remain central to the casino’s offerings
The PGCB reported that Live! Pittsburgh currently operates 748 slot machines and 40 total table games, along with its retail sportsbook. Its table game selection includes blackjack, craps, roulette, and baccarat, in addition to poker.
Sports bettors can place wagers at the FanDuel Sportsbook through 12 betting kiosks or staffed betting windows. Visitors can watch games on a 40-foot video wall at Sports & Social Steel City, which also has a second-floor restaurant.
The casino is open 24 hours a day at 5260 Route 30 in Greensburg. Guests must be at least 21 to gamble.
Live! Pittsburgh generates $314.7 million in taxes and supports local jobs
Since opening in November 2020, Live! Pittsburgh has generated $647 million in gross revenue from retail slots, table games, and sports wagering, according to the PGCB. Those operations have produced $314.7 million in tax revenue for Pennsylvania.
The regulator reported that the property employs 569 people. Live! also reported approximately $40.9 million in spending with local businesses from 2021 through 2025.
The property’s community contributions include more than $1 million raised through 123 charitable bingo events benefiting more than 75 nonprofit organizations, according to the presentation.
People interested in casino work can train at Live!’s dealer school, which offers daytime and evening classes. Instruction covers blackjack, roulette, craps, baccarat, and other table games, with hands-on training at casino tables.
Graduates may qualify for jobs at Live!, subject to PGCB licensing approval. The program also covers customer service, gaming regulations, and game protection.
Hotel and conference center remain a possibility
The renewal materials also outlined a feasibility study for a potential hotel and conference center at Westmoreland Mall.
Recommendations from CBRE Valuation & Advisory Services called for 200 upscale guest rooms, 15,000 square feet of meeting space, and 50,000 square feet of event space.
The concept also included a restaurant, bar, and indoor pool. The study proposed a 2028 opening, but the presentation did not confirm when construction would begin.
