The Westmoreland County Chamber of Commerce approved a study on the financial impact of a hotel and convention center next to Live! Casino Pittsburgh.

The project could generate $720 million within the first 10 years, and $270 million in direct revenue, according to the study. Local governments could benefit from $16.2 million in tax revenue, along with the creation of 120 additional jobs.

The influx of revenue would certainly help Live! Casino Pittsburgh.

Details of economic impact study

The study suggested that a new hotel and convention center be built adjacent to Live! Casino Pittsburgh in Westmoreland County. Plans include a 200-room luxury hotel and 50,000-square-foot event center.

With events, conventions, and meeting space, the project could greatly boost the economy in the county. Westmoreland County Chamber of Commerce President Dan DeBone told TribLive that it’s up to officials to act on the data.

“Where we go from here is that the chamber now has this information. It’s really about our local leaders – state, local, and county. It’s having those conversations, and that’s really beyond the chamber at this point.

“The good thing is these studies indicate the possibilities of what this could be.”

The project would cost around $86 million to construct, with the owners of Westmoreland Mall and Live! Casino Pittsburgh in charge of the project.

There’s no timeline on the next steps. Live! Casino Pittsburgh did not immediately respond with comment.

Property made enhancements last summer

Live! Casino Pittsburgh recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of a $3 million expansion project that began in July 2024. The casino relocated its poker room and added a high-limit room and a multi-function space, called The Social Club.

Because of customer feedback, the property added six large tables within approximately 1,050 square feet of space. Its new high-limit room includes three high-action tables spread across approximately 850 square feet and a bar with TVs, which brings an intimate and upscale vibe for players.

The Social Club, which took over the old poker room, holds special themed and private events in the 1,600-square-foot space. The area features a full bar with a variety of food options, multiple TV screens showing sports, and a cozy lounge area with fireplace.
