The Mega Millions jackpot has almost hit the $100 million dollar mark!
Tonight’s Mega Millions estimated jackpot for Tuesday, Sept. 8, sits at a pretty $97 million. The potential winner can always choose a $77.1 million one-time cash out option.
Recapping the previous Mega Millions drawing on Friday, Sept. 4, the winning numbers were 19 – 22 -24 – 28 – 53, with a Megaball of 25. If you purchased the $1 multiplier option, your prize would triple. Also, there was one Match 5 winner in Georgia who matched all five white balls and can claim a $1 million prize.
Beware of lottery scams
The Mega Millions wants to remind you of scammers who falsely claim “You’ve won the lottery!” While this would be a lifelong dream come true for many of us, there are scammers lurking.
A lottery scam has one common hallmark: tricking you into sending money or sharing your personal information in order to claim some large lottery prize. A more elaborate scheme is to send a bogus winning check and then ask for a bank wire in order to cover taxes and fees.
According to the Mega Millions, “No representative of Mega Millions would ever call, text or e-mail anyone about winning a prize.” On the other hand, if you do win through the PA online lottery, you will receive an email that notifies you of your winning lottery ticket. Plus, if your winnings are $600 or less, your funds are automatically deposited into your account.
