Rivers Casino Sportsbook PA Sports Betting Review
Rivers Casino Pittsburgh is the most centrally-located casino for the second-largest city in Pennsylvania. It is located along the Ohio River, just northwest of Heinz Field.
Rush Street Interactive, the casino’s parent company filed an application with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) in September to offer sports betting at Rivers Casino. It was finally ready to open the doors of the casino’s sportsbook on Dec. 15.
Along with Rivers and Philadelphia-area SugarHouse Casino, Rush Street also owns PlaySugarHouse.com in New Jersey. Since that site features an online sportsbook, Rush Street will use that experience for launching at Rivers. It will also rely on sports betting partner Kambi for its years of wagering experience.
Latest news on Rivers Casino online sportsbook
It was a bit later than expected, but Rivers Casino opened its sportsbook. On Dec. 13, the property began two days of PGCB-supervised testing where the public can place bets. The casino got the all clear to launch on Saturday, Dec. 15, the first big Saturday of bowl season.
Meanwhile, it appears Jimmy Vaccaro of South Point Casino in Las Vegas might not be moving over to run the hometown sportsbook after all. He has yet to leave his post in Vegas, despite what seemed like a done deal to go to Rush Street.
Rivers Casino Sportsbook details
Rivers has the temporary facility on the southern gaming floor. The space encompasses roughly 3,000 square feet and offer both full-service cashiers and self-service kiosks.
There are also 15 high-definition televisions in the temporary book. Casino management has a 14′ by 7′ video wall for odds displays, which Rush Street has claimed is state of the art.
The hours of operation for the Rivers Sportsbook are:
- Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to midnight
- Fridays, 10 a.m. to 2 a.m.
- Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 2 a.m
- Sundays, 9 a.m. to midnight
Meanwhile, construction on the permanent sportsbook is proceeding in the center of the casino. Rivers personnel are renovating the Levels Lounge into a hall for sports wagering.
Obviously, we know more about the temporary facility than we do about the permanent one. However, it is reasonable to assume that many of the same features that are present in the temporary location will make their way over to the former Levels Lounge once construction is complete.
Rivers Casino mobile betting plans
However, this move does not preclude Rivers from creating its own online sportsbook. The sports betting license that Rivers received on Oct. 31 includes provisions for a single skin for online betting.
Rivers Casino partners
Any Rivers Casino interactive sports betting product will be the work of software developer Kambi. Kambi has worked closely with Rush Street Interactive for some time now. In addition to powering the PlaySugarHouse betting app in new Jersey, the company also helped create the DraftKings Sportsbook product as well as 888 Sport.
