Rivers Casino Philadelphia is preparing to open new venues and will hold two food and beverage job fairs this month, giving qualified applicants a chance to interview on-site and potentially receive an immediate offer.
The Fishtown property has both full-time and part-time positions available for job-seekers interested in joining its food and beverage team. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Rivers says no prior experience is required.
The Oct. 1 announcement says new venues will open soon but does not identify them or provide specific opening dates.
Food and beverage openings range from servers to managers
The casino will host both hiring events at its Event Center, with one evening session and another the following morning:
- Monday, Oct. 19, from 5-7 p.m.
- Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Rivers is located at 1001 N. Delaware Ave., along the Delaware River waterfront in Philadelphia. Available positions include sous chefs, cooks, runners, bartenders, servers, managers, and greeters.
While the fairs welcome applicants without experience, job seekers should review the duties and qualifications listed for individual openings before deciding which positions best match their interests and background.
Bringing an updated résumé and being ready to discuss which days and shifts they can work will help candidates prepare for interviews.
Attendees can also sample dishes from Sapore and other existing and upcoming dining venues during their visit. Employees hired through the fairs who complete six months of employment will be entered into a prize drawing that includes tickets to sporting events.
Rivers lists a $15 minimum for non-tipped jobs
The casino’s careers page states that it has adopted a minimum wage of $15 an hour for all non-tipped positions. Pay for a specific opening may differ, so applicants will need to review the job listing or discuss the position’s compensation during their interview.
For tipped positions, applicants should also check the base hourly rate and how tips are handled when comparing potential earnings across different opportunities.
Rivers’ benefits page lists health insurance, paid time off and a 401(k) retirement plan with a discretionary company match. Tuition reimbursement is also among the advertised benefits, with the job fair announcement noting that employees must qualify.
Other listed benefits include free term life insurance and access to both short-term and long-term disability coverage.
Employees receive weekly paychecks, free parking, uniforms and discounted meals. Rivers also advertises training and development programs, along with opportunities for employees to advance their careers within the company.
Applicants considering full-time or part-time work should confirm which benefits apply to the position they are pursuing, along with the expected weekly hours and shift requirements, before accepting an offer.
Paid dealer school offers another route into casino work
Rivers also offers a paid dealer training program. Its careers page currently advertises a free, four-week dealer school that pays trainees $17.50 an hour while they complete the program, providing another route into casino employment for people interested in working at table games.
Dealer school applicants must apply for the Dealer School Student position and successfully complete the casino’s screening interview. Participants must be at least 18 years old and cannot already be employed by Rivers Philadelphia or another Rush Street Gaming property.
Job seekers can visit Rivers’ careers page to browse available Philadelphia positions, review individual job descriptions, and access the online application before attending either fair.
