Parx Casino Shippensburg is preparing to take a major next step in its evolution with the long-awaited debut of live dealer table games, marking a significant expansion for the Cumberland Valley gaming property.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has scheduled official test nights for Parx Shippensburg on Jan. 27 and Jan. 28. Pending final regulatory approval, the casino will follow with a soft opening on Jan. 30 before celebrating a full Grand Opening Weekend beginning Friday, Feb. 6.
Live dealer tables coming to the casino floor
The launch will introduce live table games to the casino floor for the first time since the property opened in 2023. Once fully operational, Parx Shippensburg will offer 12 live tables with 72 total seats.
Games will include blackjack, roulette, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, and Three Card Poker. Casino officials say the addition will create a more social, interactive atmosphere while maintaining the property’s fully smoke-free environment.
Test nights to include community preview
During the two PGCB test days, Parx Shippensburg will host local officials, community partners, and gaming industry representatives for a preview of the live table games operation.
The ceremonial first wager is scheduled for noon on Jan. 27, when newly elected Shippensburg Mayor Shaun Rogers will place an honorary blackjack bet to mark the official debut of live dealer gaming at the property.
Test-day revenue to benefit local senior center
Parx Shippensburg will use the test period to support the local community by donating all table games revenue generated on Jan. 27 and Jan. 28, from noon to 8 p.m., to Branch Creek Place of Shippensburg.
Branch Creek Place serves as a senior center and Meals on Wheels provider for the area and operates as a subsidiary of Menno Haven, a senior living organization based in Chambersburg. Casino officials said the initiative reflects the property’s ongoing commitment to supporting local organizations.
Economic impact and future growth
Parx Casino Shippensburg GM John Marshall said the expansion represents both an entertainment upgrade and an economic investment in the region:
“This expansion not only adds more excitement for our guests, but it also strengthens our support for the local economy.
“We’re creating new jobs, generating additional revenue for the commonwealth, and continuing to invest in the long-term success of Shippensburg and Cumberland County.”
Third year of operation marks next chapter
The introduction of live table games comes as Parx Shippensburg enters its third year of operation. Located just off Interstate 81, the 73,000-square-foot casino features approximately 500 slot machines, multiple dining options, live entertainment, and betPARX sports betting kiosks.
Pending final PGCB approval following the test period, live table games will become a permanent fixture at the casino beginning in late January, with the official grand opening celebration scheduled for early February.
