Captain Optimistic delivered the top performance at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Sunday. The horse rallied from off the pace to win the $16,000 fast-class handicap pace in 1:49.2.
Scott Zeron drove the 4-year-old son of Captaintreacherous. Captain Optimistic was sixth and wide nearing the first turn before settling into a second-over trip. He finished with enough late speed to beat Goliath Hanover by three-quarters of a length. Blue Lou finished another half-length back.
The win pushed Captain Optimistic’s career earnings to $1,320,787. Nancy Takter trains the horse for the Captain Optimistic Stable.
