According to Wind Creek Casino online customer service reps, the mandated soft launch was completed prior to the full launch, and the site is now available 24/7.

With Wind Creek’s iGaming platform’s debut, only one PA-based online casino licensee, the Cordish Companies Live! Casino brand, has yet to release its product.

Live! has properties under construction in Philadelphia and a suburb of Pittsburgh. Cordish recently expressed an interest in bidding on a newly available mini-casino license up for auction by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) in September.

Additionally, there are two qualified gaming entities (QGEs) approved to apply for iGaming licenses in Pennsylvania. Those are Golden Nugget and MGM, both expected to enter the PA market in the not-too-distant future.

PA Online casino revenue reaches all-time highs

Pennsylvania’s 12 land-based casinos closed in mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was a long road back. The first ones reopened on June 9, but it took until July 17 for the final one, Rivers Casino Philadelphia, to start welcoming back guests.

Online casinos saw a surge in play in the spring, peaking at record-breaking numbers in May. They remained strong to start the summer. Slot revenue in June was $36.8 million, down just $2 million from May. Table games saw a relatively greater decline, going from $12.4 million in May to $10.0 million in June.

Rivers (SugarHouse and BetRivers) led operators in June with $15 million in total revenue, with $13 million of that coming from slots. FanDuel topped the tables with $3.2 million in revenue.

Wind Creek online and retail Betfred sportsbook to follow

Back in June, Wind Creek got approval from the PGCB to launch both retail and online sports betting, which it will do under the popular UK brand Betfred. Construction on the retail Betfred book should get underway later this month, with an original target opening date of late November.

An online app is to precede that grand opening, meaning PA sports bettors should have an online Betfred sportsbook in the coming weeks to go with the nine other online sports betting sites already live in PA.

Mobile sportsbook launches are also expected for Live! Casino and Hollywood (Barstool Sportsbook) in the coming months as the PA online gambling market approaches max capacity.
