Parx Casino and Racing in Bucks County has received a five-year license renewal for its casino and horse racing operations. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board announced the decision this week.

Operated by Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment, Parx Casino has been tremendously successful. In nearly 20 years of operation, it has paid $4.59 billion in tax revenue to the state of Pennsylvania based on in excess of $10.2 billion in gross revenue.

Since it opened in December of 2006, Parx Casino has undergone upgrades and renovations that have resulted in nearly 3,000 slot machines, more than 150 table games, and a sportsbook, betPARX.

Parx Casino employs over 2,000 people.

Community shows support for casino

The renewal of the operational license followed a hearing in April where the public was welcome to provide comment on the racino.

Many members of the Bensalem Township community, where the casino is located, presented information in favor of the license renewal.

Those who cannot visit Parx Casino can still partake in gaming by downloading the betPARX Sportsbook app.

The state is one of the few states that offer legal, regulated PA online casino gaming. The state also allows online sports betting.
