Cordish Gaming Group has named Jason Birney executive vice president and general manager of Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia.
In the role, Birney will oversee the property’s day-to-day management and operations, including gaming, hotel, food and beverage, marketing, and guest experience. Cordish said he will be responsible for driving continued growth, operational excellence, and the guest experience at the Philadelphia property.
Birney Will Oversee Broad Property Operations
The appointment puts Birney in charge of core operations across the casino and hotel. That includes the gaming floor as well as non-gaming areas such as hospitality, dining, marketing, and overall guest service.
For players and visitors, the announcement does not include any immediate changes to games, amenities, or property offerings. It does signal who will be leading day-to-day operations at one of Philadelphia’s major casino properties.
New GM Brings Interactive and Gaming Experience
Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia now has a new top property executive with experience from another major gaming company. Birney most recently served as head of interactive operations at Penn Entertainment.
Cordish said Birney joins the role with more than two decades of gaming industry experience. That background spans both land-based casino management and interactive gaming operations.
Cordish’s announcement did not specify when Birney will officially begin in the position. It also did not say whether he is replacing a previous general manager. For now, Live! Philadelphia has made a leadership change at the top of property operations.
