DraftKings has introduced customizable cool-off periods that allow customers in most jurisdictions to take a break lasting between three and 364 days. The options available to Pennsylvania customers may vary by product.

The change gives players more choice over how long they step away from betting, whether for a few days or several months. DraftKings has also launched a football-themed self-assessment designed to help customers reflect on their decisions.

The company announced the changes on Sept. 14, shortly after the NFL season began. Its latest responsible gambling push also includes a sweepstakes encouraging customers to use tools that track their activity and help them set a budget.

How DraftKings’ custom cool-off periods work

Customers can select a specific number of days within the range available to them, rather than rely only on preset options. Where the custom setting is available, someone seeking a two-week break could choose 14 days.

A cool-off temporarily restricts gambling through a DraftKings account. It gives players an option if they want time away after spending more money than planned or finding themselves betting more often than they intended.

The restriction applies to DraftKings. Pennsylvanians who want to stop gambling across the state’s licensed online operators can use the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board’s (PGCB) self-exclusion program

Players can enroll online through the state’s Responsible Play website. The PGCB also offers separate self-exclusion options for casinos, video gaming terminals, and fantasy contests.

Gamalyze American Football offers a self-assessment

DraftKings has also introduced Gamalyze American Football, an interactive self-assessment developed with Mindway AI. It asks players to make choices during a football-themed activity and provides feedback about their decision-making style.

Mindway says the assessment looks at how participants respond to potential rewards and losses. Unlike a standard questionnaire, it draws on the choices they make during the activity. Participants then receive a personalized report that may help them reflect on their gambling habits.

Customers who want to set a spending limit or take a break must use DraftKings’ account controls separately.

DraftKings added a casino version of Gamalyze to its My Budget and Controls area in January. It later introduced a soccer-themed version during this year’s World Cup. The American football version is being promoted online and at events during September.

DraftKings PGA TOUR sweepstakes promotes responsible gambling tools

DraftKings is also highlighting tools customers can already use to track their activity and set limits. My Stat Sheet shows a player’s spending, activity, and time on DraftKings. A customer can use it to check how their gambling over time compares with what they expected to spend.

My Budget Builder helps customers plan a gambling budget and review controls for deposits, wagering, and time spent playing. Those settings give players a way to put limits in place before they gamble, while My Stat Sheet lets them check their activity afterward.

Through Sept. 29, DraftKings is running a PGA TOUR sweepstakes that encourages eligible customers to use responsible gambling features, including My Stat Sheet and My Budget Builder. Customers interested in the promotion should check its terms for eligibility and entry requirements.

The tools can help someone keep track of their gambling, but they are not a substitute for support if betting has become difficult to control. Pennsylvanians can find information by calling 1-800-GAMBLER for free help.
