Insider Monkey ranked Parx Casino in Bensalem as the eighth-most profitable casino in the world.

Parx has been one of the most consistent Pennsylvania casinos, producing strong slot and table game revenue figures year after year.

The Bensalem location is on the list with other impressive casinos from Hong Kong, Macao and Las Vegas.

Parx No. 8 most profitable casino in the world

Insider Monkey conducted this study by taking into account the profitability of the casino’s parent companies.

Greenwood Racing Inc., a private entity, owns Parx Casino. The casino has generated $750 million in revenue since opening in 2009. That mark placed Parx eighth among the top 12 most profitable casinos in the world. Here are casinos ranking from No. 12 to eight:

  • 12: Grand Lisboa Palace (Hong Kong)
  • 11: Wynn (Las Vegas)
  • 10: Mohegan Sun (Connecticut)
  • 9: Foxwoods Resort Casino (Connecticut)

Parx coming in eighth is no small feat, considering how the gambling industry is booming across the world. Here’s the countdown from seven to one:

  • 7: Galaxy Macao (Macao)
  • 6: Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa (New Jersey)
  • 5: MGM National Harbor (Maryland)
  • 4: Bellagio (Las Vegas)
  • 3: Aria Resort & Casino (Las Vegas)
  • 2: Marina Bay Sands (Singapore)
  • 1: The Venetian Macao (Macao)

According to a report from Research and Markets, the gaming industry is valued at $449 billion, which is expected to grow annually at 6.6%. The industry could reach a valuation of $847.5 billion by 2032.

Parx Casino gets more national recognition

Parx was also bestowed with national recognition recently. The American Gaming Association (AGA) named Parx within its Top 20 Commercial Casinos Outside Nevada.

In Q1 2023, Parx produced $151 million in revenue, which topped the Keystone State. Wind Creek Bethlehem and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh also made the AGA list.

Parx kept the trend going in May, generating the most retail revenue among PA casinos. The Bensalem casino dominated the slot market again.

May slot revenue

  • Parx: $33.9 million
  • Wind Creek: $24.5 million
  • Rivers Casino Pittsburgh: $22.4 million
  • Mohegan Pennsylvania: $15.7 million

May table games revenue

  • Wind Creek: $19.8 million
  • Parx: $18.1 million
  • Rivers Casino Pittsburgh: $8 million
  • Live! Casino Philadelphia: $7 million

With June revenue expected to be released in the middle of July, there’s no reason to think Parx wouldn’t be at the top of both lists again.

Parx’s Pennsylvania casino expansion plans

Parx has been recognized nationally and globally without the presence of a hotel.

The casino is planning to build a 300-room luxury hotel at the Bensalem location. The amenities of the hotel include:

  • Convention center to host conferences and weddings
  • Two restaurants (one on the rooftop)
  • Coffee shop
  • Spa
  • Fitness center

Construction is expected to begin in 2023 and be completed by some point in 2025.

Parx also opened another location in Shippensburg earlier this year. Parx Shippensburg, a mini-casino, moved into a 73,000 square-foot building with 500 slot machines, 48 electronic table games, a sportsbook and a 100-seat restaurant with a full bar.

The mini-casino generated $2.6 million in slot revenue in May, more than Lady Luck Nemacolin’s $1.6 million.

Business is currently booming for Parx Casino.
