FanDuel Casino App Launches In PA With Popular Slots, Table Games

FanDuel Casino debuts in Pennsylvania

FanDuel, though a partnership with Valley Forge Casino and Boyd Gaming, debuted its online casino in Pennsylvania on Jan. 24.

FanDuel Casino is integrated within the FanDuel Sportsbook app. It is the sixth online casino to go live in Pennsylvania, but the move marks a historic moment for the operator.

Pennsylvania represents the first state in which the company offers an online casino under the FanDuel brand. It has online casino games in New Jersey, but those are under the Betfair Casino brand with a standalone app and integrated with the sportsbook app.

FanDuel’s PA casino debuted with five table games and 12 slots. The tiny library is the smallest batch of games on offer upon any online casino launch, so far, in the state.

FanDuel casino launches ahead of Super Bowl, eyes more table games

FanDuel online casino had two testing days on Jan. 22 and Jan 23. It went live 24/7 on Jan. 24, nine days before Super Bowl LIV. FanDuel’s PA sportsbook has dominated the market since August. In December, FanDuel took $154 million in bets, which translated to half of all online wagers in PA.

Kevin Hennessy, director of publicity for FanDuel commented:

“We felt it was it was a priority to bring our FanDuel Casino product to market before to Super Bowl. Given how well FanDuel Sportsbook has resonated with players in Pennsylvania, we felt it was a natural product extension in PA to leverage the FanDuel brand to bring our online sportsbook players a more robust online gaming offering.”

Users will find a similar experience to the New Jersey version within the FanDuel sportsbook app. The biggest difference is there are more games available in the NJ version.

Expect to see the library size increase, especially with table games. This falls in line with a current trend that is unique to Pennsylvania where table games are more popular than slots online. In November and December, table games saw more action than online slots in the Commonwealth.

Hennessy said:

“We will look to add more table games and slots in the near future, but we took a conscious approach to the games we started with. In our experience in New Jersey, we’ve found that FanDuel Sportsbook customers are engaging significantly more with our table games.”

iGaming making gains in PA

FanDuel is the first online casino to launch online in Pennsylvania in 2020. The most recent ones to join the PA market were PokerStars Casino (Mount Airy Casino) and Unibet Casino (Mohegan Sun Pocono) in early November 2019.

SugarHouse (Rivers Casino Philadelphia) ranked first in iGaming revenue in terms of table games and slots in December with $2.9 million. But with the added vertical of online poker, they were topped for total revenue.

As the only operator in the state with online poker, PokerStars tallied an additional $2.5 million to go with its online casino revenue of $1.5 million for the month.

FanDuel Sportsbook has been dominant in PA so far, bringing in $154.5 million in handle for over half of the online sports bets in PA in December. With the Super Bowl being one of the biggest betting events of the year, the launch of the online casino within its sports betting app should prove good timing for casino customer acquisition.

With six PA online casinos now live, the online casino market should continue to show revenue gains as well as more promotions, games, and titles for PA players.
