The Sun has set and a new name is on the horizon. The casino property formerly known as Mohegan Sun Pocono has recently undergone a brand refresh that will bring a new name to the state’s gaming landscape – Mohegan Pennsylvania.
The Mohegan Pennsylvania property, which became the first gaming venue in Pennsylvania when it opened in 2006, is also undergoing some changes of its own. The redevelopment plan, named Project Starlight, will include a $10 million renovation of Mohegan Pennsylvania’s 237-room hotel.
Project Starlight brings numerous upgrades to Mohegan Pennsylvania Casino
Mohegan decided to debut their rebrand alongside the enhancements to the casino and hotel.
“We recently refreshed our corporate name, going from Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment to Mohegan,” Mohegan CEO Ray Pineault said in a recent Yahoo Finance article. “Many of our partners, stakeholders and valued guests commonly refer to our brand as ‘Mohegan,’ so the new title is a strategic decision that truly encapsulates our capabilities and values. To also create synergy across the Mohegan portfolio, especially as we continue to grow in-line with the Mohegan Tribe’s vision, destinations like Mohegan Pennsylvania have also rolled out a rebrand.”
Another aspect of Project Starlight will focus on The Hive Taphouse, a new bar and live music venue that will feature numerous flat screen televisions, a selection of more than 20 beers and a full dining menu, as well.
The Hive Taphouse will also include some TopGolf Swing Suites where guests can compete in simulated golf matches on famous PGA courses, and try out other activities such as a Quarterback Challenge.
Embers Terrace is an entertainment mecca
This summer, a new seasonal outdoor bar also opened for business at Mohegan Pennsylvania Casino. Embers Terrace became a popular destination for those who enjoy live music, lawn games, relaxing fire pits and high-quality wines.
“There is so much to be excited about as we approach the new year and that excitement stems from our dedicated team and leadership,” Anthony Carlucci, President and GM of Mohegan Pennsylvania, also said in the article. “With a new name, revamped hotel, new attractions and the continued unrivaled guest service that has exemplified our brand and all Mohegan properties, we’re thrilled about the next phase of Mohegan Pennsylvania.”
Mohegan Pennsylvania among leaders in September slot revenue
Mohegan Pennsylvania, which is located in the popular tourist region of the Poconos and Wilkes-Barre, features an expansive hotel and on-site spa, as well as a 20,000 square-foot convention center.
At present, Mohegan Pennsylvania Casino offers 82,000 square feet of gaming space, with more than 50 table games, over 1,900 slot machines, live harness racing, along with numerous dining, shopping, nightlife and other entertainment options.
It is one of 16 retail casino properties in a competitive Pennsylvania market that is second only to Nevada in terms of commercial gaming revenue. In September, Mohegan Pennsylvania finished fourth in slots revenue, 11th in table games and 10th in total revenue among PA casinos.
But with its recent rebrand and redevelopment, Mohegan Pennsylvania aims to climb even higher in the competition.
