The Cordish Companies own the popular Xfinity Live!, a bar located in the Stadium District in South Philadelphia. It is partnering with Comcast Spectacor to renovate the establishment, which is expected to bring more people to the area, benefitting the Cordish Companies’ Live! Casino Philadelphia, too.

Live! Casino Philadelphia and Xfinity Live! are the only entertainment properties in the Stadium District where fans can hang out before and during a big game. With enhancements coming, both businesses should be even more successful.

Live! Casino Philadelphia to benefit from new upgrades

The renovations to Xfinity Live! are going to total approximately $12 million. The Cordish Companies is going to enhance theImage showing the proposed renovations coming to Xfinity Live!. establishment’s outdoor plaza, creating more space for gathering areas and terraces. There are also going to be upgrades to the interior and exterior of Xfinity Live!.

Construction is expected to begin this year, with a completion date of 2025 or early 2026. The new renovations are going to bring even more foot traffic into the Stadium District. Live! Philadelphia’s Executive Director of Communications, Carmen Gonzales, told PlayPennsylvania:

“Xfinity Live! is a great neighbor and member of The Cordish Companies’ Live! brand along with us, and we’re excited about their renovation news. The continued investment by all of us in the Stadium District is a testament to the fact this is an all-in-one entertainment destination on both game and non-game days. The upgrades will continue to draw guests to the area and we look forward to welcoming them.”

The project will be done in phases to allow Xfinity Live! to be open throughout the construction process. And, of course, Live! Casino Philadelphia is going to remain open.

Blake Cordish, Principal of The Cordish Companies, said in a press release:

“It is a tremendous honor for The Cordish Companies to grow our partnership with Comcast Spectacor. We are proud to continue investing in South Philadelphia to create a new community plaza experience for Philadelphians to celebrate and enjoy. Comcast Spectacor is the premier operator of venues in Philadelphia and is steadfastly committed to delivering an unparalleled experience for Philadelphia fans.”

Retail sportsbook at Live! Casino Philadelphia a popular gameday destination

Xfinity Live! is considered the main entertainment bar in the Stadium District. However, Live! Casino Philadelphia offers its own set of entertainment, too.

The South Philadelphia casino has slots, table games and a retail sportsbook, which makes the property an exciting destination for a Philadelphia sports home game, road game or even the Super Bowl.

In October 2022, when the Phillies made a run to the World Series and the Eagles started off 8-0, Live! Casino Philadelphia experienced “pure chaos.” Bryan Newman, General Manager of FanDuel Sportsbook and Lounge at Live! Casino Philadelphia, told PlayPennsylvania:

“Busy would be an understatement to be honest with you. We’re on pace once again for a record month. We are actually in range of having the biggest handle month in Pennsylvania retail sportsbook history. That number is slightly above $10 million and it looks like we might be at that number by the end of the month.”

Live! Philly wound up breaking the record, producing $10.04 million in handle.

The excitement continued into January of last year, during the Eagles’ run to the Super Bowl. For a Saturday night NFC Divisional showdown with the Giants, Newman said:

“On a Saturday night, it’s going to be crazy. You have the away team that’s roughly 90 miles away. We’re going to have the New York fans, we’re going to have the Eagles fans and they’re going to be tailgating all day. We’re expecting near records for foot traffic on Saturday.”

Live! Casino Philadelphia has proven it is the place to be during a game. The renovations to Xfinity Live! aren’t going to hurt its cause. The amount of new fans entering the Stadium District is only going to help.
