PA Lottery players can buy Powerball tickets online.

The previous Powerball drawing resulted in no jackpot winner, so the big prize continues to rise. For the next drawing on Monday, June 5, the jackpot is estimated at $269 million. The lump sum cash value of the prize is $139.8 million.

Powerball has awarded four jackpot prizes so far this year. A ticket sold in Ohio hit the last big prize of $252.6 million on April 19. It took just a month and one week for the jackpot to build back to over $200 million.

Check the winning Powerball numbers here after each drawing on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights at 11 p.m. ET.

Recent Powerball drawings and winners

Over the weekend, two lucky players came within one number of hitting the jackpot. Tickets sold in California and North Carolina matched the first five white balls, but not the red Powerball. Both tickets won a $1 million prize. No one managed to hit that prize level with Power Play, which would have made the prize $2 million.

One PA Lottery Powerball ticket is now worth $100,000 after matching the first four white balls, plus the red Powerball on Saturday. That ticket had the $1 Power Play option, which doubled the standard prize of $50,000.

The lottery doesn’t know who won it yet, but it knows the ticket was sold in Butler County at Giant Eagle, located at 206 Seven Fields Boulevard in Seven Fields.

Tickets can match any of the first five numbers in any order. Make ticket checking easier by using the PA iLottery mobile app, or buy tickets online to get automatic notifications.

Powerball jackpot odds

There are nine ways to win a prize on your Powerball ticket. Overall, the odds of winning any prize are about 1 in 25. Below the jackpot, prizes range from $4 for only matching the red Powerball, up to $1 million for matching the first five white balls. The $1 Power Play add-on will multiply any prize won other than the jackpot.

The jackpot odds are 1 in 292.2 million. You’d have to get very lucky to hit it. By contrast, the second-tier prize has odds of about 1 in 12 million, but many drawings go by without a single second-tier winner.

Your odds of winning with a single ticket are always the same. It doesn’t matter how high the jackpot is or how many tickets are sold. More tickets sold sometimes results in more than one ticket hitting the jackpot. When that happens, each winner gets an even share of the total jackpot.

Where to buy Powerball tickets

Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Tickets are $2 per play, unless you add Power Play for an additional $1.

About half of the proceeds from sales stay in the state where the ticket was sold. State lotteries pay out the prizes won in each state. Jackpots are paid from the proceeds that go to Powerball.

State lotteries use profits to fund education, environmental and other programs. In PA, lottery profits go to fund programs and other benefits for senior citizens in the state.
