After closing the exclusive window for PA casinos, the PGCB was left with seven unclaimed online gambling licenses. It decided to make those licenses available for qualified gaming entities from outside PA at a cost of $4 million. Enter MGM and Golden Nugget. Both companies run successful online casinos in New Jersey and are looking forward to spreading their wings. MGM has had its eye on joining the PA gambling industry since its attempt at purchasing Sands Bethlehem failed. Golden Nugget, on the other hand, hopes to capitalize on the opportunity to bring its New Jersey online casino revenue leader title across state lines. So far, these are the only two companies to claim one of the available licenses, leaving five more on the table.
