Steelers Most Bet Team at DraftKings in 2020 NFL Season

DraftKings customers in Pennsylvania love the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In the sportsbook’s 2020 season recap, the most money wagered in PA during the NFL regular season was on the Steelers. Across the nine states where the sportsbooks app is live, the Kansas City Chiefs were the most bet NFL team, followed by the Green Bay Packers and the Steelers.

In Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia Eagles had the fourth-highest handle of any team. Bettors in PA preferred the Chiefs and the Packers over the home-state Eagles.

Pittsburgh Steelers season review and playoff preview

Before the season started, most PA online sportsbooks, including DraftKings, pegged the Steelers over/under win total at 9, AFC North odds at +340, and chances to make playoffs at -137.

A franchise-best 11-0 start gave bettors no sweat when it came to the “over” on win total. The Steelers finished 12-4 and won the AFC North. Another preseason Steelers bet that turned out to be a winner was TJ Watt (+1300) to lead the league in sacks. He finished with 15 and is a strong contender for Defensive Player of the Year.

During the regular season, the Steelers were one of the NFL’s best for backers with a 10-6 ATS record.

Ahead of Wild Card Weekend, Pennsylvania online sportsbooks opened with the Steelers as 4.5-point favorites. However, on Tuesday, the Browns announced that head coach Kevin Stefanski, two members of the coaching staff and two players have tested positive for COVID-19. The line moved to Steelers -6 with the total points line at 47.5

Betting splits for Browns vs. Steelers at DraftKings as of Friday

  • 83% of the money is on the Steelers (-6) to cover the spread
  • 64% of the money is on the Steelers (-265) moneyline
  • 75% of the money is on the OVER (47.5)
DraftKings Director of Race and Sportsbook Johnny Avello provided his thoughts on the Steelers:
“Started the season like a ball on fire, but that flame has been extinguished, winning only one of their last five games to close out the regular season. Big Ben has two Super Bowl victories, the last was in 2009, and he would be delighted to get another Lombardi Trophy before closing out his career. If they win Wild Card Weekend against the Browns, the Steelers would most likely be the underdogs in the next two matchups en route to the AFC Championship.”
