The Pennsylvania online casino industry is the most robust market in the country. Much of that is because of the variety of slot titles that are available for players.

Slot earnings generated 92.2% of online casino revenue during the Fiscal Year 2022/2023. That doesn’t appear to be changing, as existing operators continue to grow and the state welcomes new ones.

PA online casinos total more than 9,500 slots among its 20 operators. Which online platform leads the way?

Counting slot totals at Pennsylvania online casinos

Pennsylvania has the second-most operators among the six states with legal online casinos. New Jersey offers 31, and after the launch of Golden Nugget PA in August, the Keystone State isn’t far behind, with 20. Here’s how many slots Pennsylvania casinos provide:

PA online casino slot count takeaways – December 2023

As the strongest online casino market in the country, there’s a lot to take away from the slot count in Pennsylvania.

Top PA casinos online offer most games

It’s not surprising to see that the operators offering the most games to players hold significant market share not only in Pennsylvania, but nationally, too.

BetMGM Casino PA and Borgata Casino PA supply nearly 2,500 slots combined for players in Pennsylvania. It makes sense that both platforms are two of the most successful in the Keystone State.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) does not break down online casino revenue by operator. However, BetMGM is one of the top-three online casino providers. BetMGM, along with DraftKings Casino PA, Hollywood Casino PA, PointsBet Casino PA and Barstool Casino PA, are partners with Hollywood Casino Penn National, which has amassed $557.4 million in yearly revenue, the most of any licensee.

While it would be great to know exact totals, we can surmise that DraftKings PA also contributes considerably to the license. During a recent Q2 2023 earnings call, DraftKings stated that its mature states have contributed to an 88% increase in year-over-year revenue.

In a Q2 2023 business update written by CEO Jason Robins and CFO Jason Park, the executives said:

“Older states are generating significant contribution profit after the initial investment period as customers are retained, handle per player increases, hold rises, promotional intensity declines, and external marketing decreases.”

BetRivers Casino PA, PlaySugarHouse Casino PA and Borgata Casino PA, who all are partners with Rivers Casino Philadelphia and offer nearly 700 games or more, posted $277.5 million in yearly revenue, the third-most in the state.

Golden Nugget Casino PA launches with impressive number of slots

Golden Nugget is the newest platform in the Keystone State and has already made an impressive entry.

The operator launched with nearly 600 slots, sixth-most, and produced solid slot revenue in its first full month live. Golden Nugget generated $2 million in slot revenue in August, more than Wind Creek (just under $2 million) and Unibet Casino PA ($1.5 million), and just behind the $2.2 million Bally Casino PA pulled in.

Golden Nugget has a lot of things in its favor. It supplies a well-known retail location in Atlantic City, a short drive from Southeastern Pennsylvania, and is owned by DraftKings. The online platform features lots of DraftKings-branded games, as well as Golden Nugget-branded titles.

Golden Nugget is going to be able to rely on its own brand, DraftKings and its rich slot library to keep climbing up the ladder in Pennsylvania.

Changes coming to Pennsylvania online casino market

There will be changes to the online market soon. After PENN Entertainment’s new partnership with ESPN, Barstool Casino is closing up shop. Penn Entertainment will continue to use Hollywood Casino PA, which is already a standalone app in Pennsylvania.

The platform will be integrated with ESPN Bet PA upon a November launch. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of changes will be made to the Hollywood app, along with its revenue figures after losing Barstool.

Fanatics also plans to launch an online casino in the near future. For now, it is operating PointsBet, which is close to the bottom in total slot count in Pennsylvania. It bears the question whether Fanatics will add slots to PointsBet, and what its own online casino will look like.

The likes of PlayStar Casino PA and Bet365 Casino PA will soon launch, as well. It looks like the more options people have, the more revenue operators in the state generate.
