Sixers 2022-2023 odds

The Philadelphia 76ers enter the 2022 NBA season with +1600 odds to win the 2023 NBA Championship. With the Celtics favored to win the Eastern Conference and Kevin Durant returning to the Nets, the Sixers face a tough task.

The Sixers have not made it past the Eastern Conference semifinals since the 2000-01 season. Philadelphia Sixers bettors hope this is finally the year they buck the trend.

The NBA released its full schedule for the 2022-2023 season and Pennsylvania sportsbooks have odds for the first three nights of the NBA season and Christmas Day slate.

The Sixers finished last season 51-31 to clinch the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference. They defeated the Toronto Raptors 4-2 in the first round before falling to the Miami Heat, 4-2, in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Philadelphia 76ers 2022-23 schedule analysis

The NBA still sees Joel Embiid and the Sixers as a huge draw and proved that with the schedule.

The Sixers are one of four teams to play on the league’s opening night. They travel to Boston on October 18 with their home opener on October 20 against the Bucks. FanDuel PA sportsbook has the Sixers as a five-point underdog in the opener against the Celtics and a 1.5-point favorite vs. the Bucks.

The NBA awarded the Sixers with a Christmas Day game at Madison Square Garden vs. Knicks at noon. Odds for that game have yet to be released.

Here are some notable home games for the Sixers this season:

  • Brooklyn Nets: November 22, 7:30 p.m., TNT
  • L.A. Lakers: December 9: 7:30 p.m., ESPN
  • Golden State Warriors: December 16, 7:30 p.m., ESPN
  • L.A. Clippers: December 23, 7 p.m.
  • Boston Celtics: February 25, 8:30 p.m., ABC
  • Miami Heat: February 27, 7 p.m.
  • Dallas Mavericks: March 29, 7:30 p.m., ESPN

Sixers 2022-23 NBA Championship, Eastern Conference, Atlantic odds

As long as Joel Embiid is in Philadelphia, the Sixers will be a perennial playoff team for the foreseeable future. The Sixers have finished below the four seed just once in the last five seasons.

Now that Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets have patched up their relationship, the Eastern Conference is much more clear. The Celtics are still the favorite to win the east on DraftKings PA sportsbook at +270. Brooklyn is second with +310 odds. Milwaukee (+320), the Sixers (+650) and Miami (+700) round out the top five favorites.

FanDuel sportsbook in PA sees the Eastern Conference differently:

  • Boston Celtics: +240
  • Milwaukee Bucks: +300
  • Brooklyn Nets: +410
  • Sixers: +750
  • Miami Heat: +850

Sixers offseason moves

James Harden opted out of his $47.4 million deal for 2022-23 to set the Sixers up for flexibility. Harden signed a two-year, $68.6 million contract with a player option for the second year.

With the added flexibility, the Sixers signed forward PJ Tucker to a three-year, $33.2 million fully guaranteed contract. They also added to their perimeter depth by adding forward Danuel House to a two-year, $8.5 million free-agent contract.

The Sixers did not make a pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, but they traded for former Grizzlies guard De’Anthony Melton on draft day who figures to be a rotational backcourt player.

Joel Embiid MVP odds

Joel Embiid won the NBA scoring title (30.6 ppg) but came in second in MVP voting to Nikola Jokic for the second straight season. Jokic averaged 27.1 points, 13.6 rebounds and 7.9 assists per game.

For the second year in a row, it seemed like the NBA stole the MVP from Embiid.

Embiid said last season, before the award was announced, that the NBA and voters would “hate” him if he didn’t win it. He might have a point.

Once again, Embiid is one of the favorites to win the MVP
