Presque Isle Downs and Casino in Erie, PA, was evacuated on Saturday night due to a bomb threat. The threat was deemed unfounded and the casino reopened on Sunday morning.

On Sunday morning, Presque Isle Downs and Casino released the following statement on its Twitter and Facebook:
Presque Isle Downs received a bomb threat just before 10pm last night. For the safety of our guests and team members, we evacuated the building while PSP investigated. The bomb squad was called in which utilized three K-9s and deemed the threat unfounded. State Police are actively investigating the matter. We have opened our operations for business. Any guest who would have been on property during that time can visit Guest Services to retrieve any monies left at the table games or in the slot machines from safe keeping. We just ask for your patience while we still go through all of the transactions. Thanks to law enforcement for their quick reaction and to our team for making the experience safe for our guests and themselves.
In addition to PSP from the Erie barracks, the PSP Bureau of Gaming Enforcement assisted with the evacuation.
According to Erie News Now, Jennifer See, a spokesperson for Presque Isle Downs, confirmed to Erie News Now that the evacuation of the casino started before 9:55 p.m. on Saturday, June 27.
“For the safety of our guests and team members, we evacuated the building while PSP investigated,” See told Erie News Now. “The bomb squad was called in, which utilized three K-9s and deemed the threat unfounded. State police are actively investigating the matter.”\
Bomb threats at casinos
Last month, a Floria woman upset about losing at the slot machine was arrested for calling in a bomb threat to Seminole Hard Rock Casino.
In Dec. 2020, a bomb threat was called into Delaware Park Casino in Wilmington.
In Oct. 2019, a woman concerned about North Korea and ‘Rocket Man” called in a bomb threat to the poker room at the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course.
