The Powerball jackpot continues to climb after the big PA win earlier this month. The jackpot now sits at an estimated $48 million for Aug. 13. The lump sum cash value of tonight’s prize is $28.2 million, before withholding.
People just keep winning with Powerball. The previous drawing on Wednesday produced one winner of $1 million. To win that second-tier prize, a player must match the first five white balls drawn. A player in Missouri did just that, coming within one number of hitting the main prize.

PA Lottery player nabs highest Cash 5 jackpot in history
Just a couple days ago on Aug. 11, the Cash 5 With Quick Cash jackpot surpassed the previous record for the largest prize ever offered by the game. No one hit that $2.5 million prize on Thursday, and the increased sales of the game drove the jackpot over $3 million for Friday.
Someone finally hit that jackpot on Friday, winning $3.07 million before taxes to set the new Cash 5 jackpot record. Cash 5 With Quick Cash is the longest-running PA Lottery jackpot game that launched in 1992 as Cash 5.
Changes to the game last year included an increased starting jackpot and an additional instant ticket that prints with every purchase. Players can win $2 or $6 instantly on the add-on ticket. The game cost increased from $1 to $2, and the game remains popular despite the changes.
