Powerball is ending the year on a high note, despite the lack of a jackpot winner from Monday’s drawing. Two players from FL and NJ on Monday did hit $2 million wins by matching the first five balls and multiplying the prize with Power Play. Another player in FL matched five without Power Play to win $1 million.
During this current jackpot run, 30 tickets have won $1 million by matching the first five balls, and nine tickets have matched five with Power Play for prizes of $2 million. Currently, the jackpot sits at an estimated $441 million, with a cash value of $317.5 million for Dec. 29.

First Millionaire Drawing on New Year’s Eve
The final Powerball drawing of the year is upon us, and to kick off the new year, there will be a special drawing just after midnight during “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2022” on ABC. The Powerball First Millionaire of the Year drawing is separate from the regularly scheduled drawing that will still take place at 11 p.m. on New Year’s Day. The special drawing will award one of five finalists a prize of $1 million.
To be entered in the First Millionaire drawing, Powerball players from participating jurisdictions submitted their non-winning tickets before the deadline earlier this year. The five finalists were chosen from those entries. Finalists were all given $10,000 and a “party package” including a fancy dinner for 8, a 70” flat screen TV, a karaoke system, a laptop, a camera, $500 to spend at Party City and more.
During the New Year’s Eve broadcast, hosts will check in with the five finalists as they celebrate the New Year at home. While the rest of us don’t have a chance in this first drawing, the TV event promises to be an exciting start to the new year for everyone.
