Never too late for $2 million win

Elizabeth Johnson of Lucama, North Carolina, recently learned that time is on her side. In detail, Johnson bought her Powerball ticket a little too late for Wednesday’s drawing.

Johnson’s story started late on Wednesday evening, where she rushed to buy her tickets for the Powerball drawing. Fortunately for her, she missed the NC Lottery’s Online Play 9:57 pm EST deadline by one minute.

Because she bought her ticket via the Online Play, Johnson’s Quick Pick ticket was automatically entered into Saturday’s drawing. Additionally, Johnson elected to purchase the $1 Power Play option along with the $2 ticket. Lucky for her, indeed.

Johnson’s ticket matched all five white balls to win $1 million for Saturday’s drawing. Moreover, with the addition of the $1 Power Play option, her winnings doubled to $2 million.

Johnson, who works as an interpreter, claimed a little over $1.4 million after all the required federal and state withholdings. With her newfound winnings, she plans on buying a house and taking her kids to Disneyland.
