It’s Saturday, and that means another exciting Powerball drawing happens tonight. The jackpot is piling up fast, coming in at an estimated $48 million for July 9. The lump sum cash value tonight is $27.9 million before withholding.
The $366.7 million Powerball prize recently won in Vermont remains unclaimed. A single ticket hit the jackpot on June 29 to win that prize. It was the first time a ticket sold in Vermont hit the Powerball jackpot. It often takes months for a jackpot winner to go through the process of claiming their prize. The California winner of the Jan. 5 jackpot took four months to finally come forward.
Always check your tickets, even if there was no jackpot winner. There are several prize levels with Powerball. The PA Lottery says players should sign the back of their ticket if it’s a big winner, and call the Lottery office for instructions on how to claim.

Florida ticket hits Powerball Double Play jackpot
The bonus drawing offered by Powerball in some jurisdictions saw its second jackpot winner of the year on July 6.
For $1 extra, Double Play tickets have a chance at a $10 million jackpot and other prizes offered in a second drawing held after the main Powerball drawings. The Double Play feature launched in August of 2021, when Powerball also added Monday night drawings.
Both winning tickets this year were sold in Florida. The first ticket hit the jackpot in the first drawing of the year on Jan. 1, 2022.
