Powerball First Millionaire of the Year

Just after the stroke of midnight of 2021, the Powerball First Millionaire of the Year was crowned. Carlos Mabry from Washington, D.C. is a new millionaire courtesy of Powerball and Dick Clark Productions.

ABC’s live broadcast of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” hosted by Ryan Seacrest covered the event where Mabry was randomly chosen as the lucky winner. In total, 19 participating lotteries, including the PA Lottery held second-chance drawings to determine these semi-finalists. Then, out of the semi-finalist pool, a lucky five were chosen to head to $1 million drawing.

Although this year was more subdued than last year’s, winners still received an incredible New Year’s Eve at-home party package. This package included cash, TV, karaoke system plus another gift certificate to Party City.

Online lottery tickets

Here in Pennsylvania, there was one big winner from the last Dec. 30 Powerball drawing. A winning ticket out of Luzerne County sold a third place Powerball ticket matching four of the five white balls drawn plus the Powerball. The winning numbers for that drawing were 3 – 43 – 45 – 61 – 65 with a red Powerball of 14. Additionally, this ticket tacked on the $1 Power Play option to boost the prize up to $100,000.

Moreover, thanks to the PA online lottery, you can buy lottery tickets online rather than heading into a physical lottery retailer. However, for big winners, such as the $100,000 ticket above, you will need to claim the winnings at a PA Lottery Office.

Even if you do not live in the Keystone State, there are other states where you can purchase online lottery tickets as well:

  • New York
  • Georgia
  • Illinois
  • Kentucky
  • Michigan
  • New Hampshire
  • North Carolina
  • North Dakota
  • Virginia

Please play responsibly.
