It’s Monday, and with a new week comes another chance at a life-changing jackpot prize with Powerball. A PA Lottery player hit the Powerball jackpot less than a week ago, thus resetting the progressive prize. For tonight, Aug. 8, the jackpot grows to an estimated $26 million. The lump sum cash value of tonight’s jackpot is $15.3 million, before withholding.
An online player in PA came one ball away from hitting the big prize on Saturday. The Perry County player, who purchased their ticket online at the PA iLottery, matched four of the five white balls, plus the red Powerball. With Power Play on their ticket, that player will take home $100,000.
Power Play is the $1 ticket add-on that multiplies all prizes other than the jackpot. Without Power Play, that player’s prize would have been $50,000.

PA Lottery congratulates Westmoreland County Powerball winner
Today, the PA Lottery broadcast a live visit to the Sheetz store in New Stanton, where last week’s jackpot-winning Powerball ticket was sold. Lottery officials congratulated the winner and the retailer, which earned a bonus of $100,000 for selling the winning ticket.
PA Lottery Executive Director, Drew Svitko, highlighted the importance of the lottery’s nearly 10,000 retailers in helping the lottery reach its goals, saying, “With their support we’re able to generate proceeds that help fund life-sustaining programs for older Pennsylvanians.”
