As usual, another Powerball drawing kicks off the week, this time offering up a jackpot prize of $56 million for Aug. 15. The cash value of the prize, for a winner that wants to collect their winnings in a single payment, totals $32.5 million before withholding.
The Powerball jackpot was last hit less than two weeks ago, right here in Pennsylvania, on Aug. 3. The $206 million–winning ticket was sold at a Sheetz store in Westmoreland County. The winner is not yet known. The PA Lottery reminds players to check every ticket every time.
In the previous drawing, one player matched the first five white balls, but not the red Powerball, to win the $1 million prize. That lucky ticket was sold in New Hampshire.

Power Play pays big money on PA Lottery tickets
PA Lottery players benefited from the rare 10x Power Play multiplier on Saturday. The 10x multiplier is the least likely to be drawn, with odds of 1 in 43. It’s only in play when the advertised jackpot annuity is $150 million or less.
While the jackpot and the second-tier prize aren’t affected by the multiplier, all other prizes are multiplied by 10 for tickets with the $1 add-on. The second-tier prize is always $2 million with Power Play.
The PA Lottery’s payout report shows two PA players matched four out of the five white balls with Power Play on Saturday, each receiving $1,000.
Nine other PA players matched three of the five, plus the red Powerball, to win $1,000 each with Power Play. That prize level is usually worth $100 without it.
