Lottery excitement was off the charts nationwide over the weekend, fueled by both of the big jackpot games offering amazing prizes. The fun continues tonight, with the Powerball jackpot up to an estimated $187 million. The value of the cash option for tonight’s prize is $110.6 million, before withholding.
Saturday’s Powerball drawing awarded many prizes across the country, including a couple big winners right here in Pennsylvania. The biggest winner, though, was a player in Delaware who won $1 million. A ticket sold in that state matched the first five white balls drawn, missing only the red Powerball. The odds of winning that prize are about 1 in 12,000,000.

PA Lottery players get lucky over the weekend
A couple Powerball players in PA came within one number of winning it all on Saturday. Two separate players matched four of the five white balls, in addition to the red Powerball, to win $150,000 each. Luckily, both players chose to spend the extra $1 for the Power Play option on their tickets. Without Power Play, their prizes would have been $50,000.
The PA winners hail from Lackawanna and Philadelphia counties. The Lackawanna ticket was sold in Taylor at Fast Lane Mart, at 215-217 South Main St. The Philadelphia ticket was sold in Andorra at Posh Fuel and Food, located at 8901 Ridge Ave. Both PA Lottery retailers earned a $500 bonus for selling the winning tickets.
