Pittsburgh Steelers win total prop
Rivers Casino Pittsburgh sportsbook manager Max Schmerin
The Steelers win total has been set at 7.5, Schmerin said most of Steelers bettors are staying loyal to home team.
“The over on the season win total has accounted for 75% of tickets sold,” Schmerin said. “However, the total amount of money bet on the over is a little bit under 70%. You’re seeing more of your lower bets on the over. Some of the bigger bets are coming in on the under but overall, most people think the Steelers will win eight or more games this year.”
Schmerin gives his thoughts on why he thinks bettors are betting the over for the Steelers.
“I think it’s more so people believing in Mike Tomlin never having a losing season. This town absolutely adored [Ben] Roethlisberger, but I think last year a lot of people thought he should have hung it up. I think there’s a lot of excitement of having mobile, younger and athletic quarterbacks [on the roster] and a top returning defense that’s going to back them up.”
Kenny Pickett and George Pickens favorites to win ROY
Though Kenny Pickett was not named the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers and it is reported he will sit the entire season to learn behind Trubisky.. But sportsbooks think the former Pitt Panthers star is still the best choice to win the rookie of the year.
Oddsmakers also thinks Steelers’ second round George Pickens is just as good of a bet to win rookie of the year.
NFL Rookie of the Year odds
(At DraftKings to start the season)
- Kenny Pickett: +850
- George Pickens: +900
- Dameon Pierce: +900
- Chris Olave: +900
- Kenny Pickett: +900
- George Pickens: +900
- Breece Hall: +1000
- Chris Olave: +1000
According to Schemerin, Pickens is getting 48.8% handle and 47.2% tickets while Pickett is receiving 18.1% handle and 25.8% tickets. Schermin said Pickett is generating 14% of tickets sold to win NFL MVP.
