Philadelphia Eagles And Unibet Partner Up, But For Casino, Not Sports Betting

Unibet's new deal with the Eagles will take online casino games into uncharted territory.

The Philadelphia Eagles didn’t make any splashy acquisitions before the NFL trade deadline expired.

However, on Oct. 31, the Eagles made another type of move. In a press release, the Eagles and Unibet, a global online gambling operator, announced a multiyear partnership that makes Unibet an official casino partner of the team. The sponsorship agreement serves as the first casino partnership for the team.

Unibet Head of U.S. Marketing Arnas Jackson said:

“As we look to grow our footprint in the US, it only made sense to partner with one of the largest, most respected and loved teams in the NFL. The Eagles unmatched fan engagement and relentless innovation in digital space definitely helped to make this partnership a reality.”

The press release explicitly stated that sports betting was not a part of the deal and would not be promoted in the partnership. Unibet nonetheless gets to benefit from brand recognition to coincide with its important Pennsylvania launch.

Unibet online casino and sportsbook coming soon to PA

Mohegan Sun Pocono, Unibet’s PA gaming partner, opened its retail sportsbook at the end of September. However, Unibet’s mobile sportsbook app has yet to launch in PA. Expect Unibet’s online sportsbook and online casino to hit Pennsylvania sometime in November.

One of the biggest sports betting sites in Europe, Unibet opened its first online sportsbook app in the United States in New Jersey through its partnership with the Hard Rock Casino in Atlantic City. The New Jersey product also features an NJ online casino with the Unibet name.

Unibet builds branding presence

As part of the deal, Unibet will receive a permanent branding presence on Lincoln Financial Field’s newly constructed Northwest Suites located on the main concourse. Unibet signage will also be prominently displayed on the “Eagles Nest Tower,” the stadium’s digital billboard. The deal does not include any promotional rights for sports betting.

Philadelphia Eagles Senior Vice President of Revenue and Strategy Catherine Carlson commented:

“Unibet’s reputation as a global leader in the online gambling space has helped the company establish a strong, emerging footprint in the Philadelphia market. We are proud to align ourselves with a company that is fully dedicated to innovation, the customer experience, and responsible gaming.”

In addition to branding at Lincoln Financial Field, Unibet will receive exposure across a number of digital and print assets including:

  • PhiladelphiaEagles.com
  • Team publications
  • Social media channels

Second NFL partnership of the month

Last week, on the western side of the state, FanDuel announced an exclusive partnership with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The agreement makes FanDuel the official daily fantasy partner of the team. But it has nothing to do with sports betting.
