The encore arrives Tuesday night.
The Philadelphia Union began the MLS is Back Tournament with a 1-0 victory over New York FC on Thursday. It was the team’s first game in four months, with the win arriving on a goal by Alejandro Bedoya in the 63rd minute.
The Union (one win, +1 goal differential) is currently tied with Orlando atop Group A, one of the six groups in the MLS tournament.
But now, it’s time for an encore performance. Philadelphia continues pool play Tuesday night in Orlando, Florida, with a matchup against Inter Miami CF, which lost to Orlando in the tournament’s opening game.
BetRivers boasts 234 possible wagers for Tuesday night’s game
Philadelphia’s game Tuesday night will be broadcast at 10:30 p.m. on TUDN, formerly Univision Deportes network. And even though it’s a late start, there are plenty of soccer betting options for players with some late-night stamina.
BetRivers Betting app and PlaySugarHouse have posted 234 bets for Tuesday’s game, with Philadelphia currently favored at +140 on the moneyline. Inter Miami is +170, and a tie is +255. The game’s over/under is set at 2.5.
FanDuel Sportsbook also has wagers posted for the game, although the odds vary. Bettors are wise to do a little comparison shopping.
Can you pick the score? Personalized wager offers strong returns
One of the more intriguing bets for Tuesday night’s game is a correct score wager from BetRivers/PlaySugarHouse that can provide healthy odds in return. All you have to do is choose correctly.
For example, a wager of Philadelphia 2, Inter Miami 1 is +800. A 1-1 tie is +600. And a 3-1 Philadelphia win jumps to +1500. There are obviously a number of choices, but it’s an interesting risk-reward bet.
Guess the goal scorer and reap the rewards
Another way to chase bigger returns in Tuesday’s game is a goal-scorer wager. DraftKings Sportsbook has a long list of odds on first/last goal scorers. Union forward Kacper Pryzbylko is the favorite for the first goal scorer at +425. Midfielder Sergio Santos and Andrew Wooten are second at +575.
Pricing is available for players from both teams. BetRivers and PlaySugarHouse also have odds posted for players to score at any point in the game, allowing for a little more flexibility in your betting.
Other wagers focus on whether a certain player will receive a yellow/red card in the contest or if they will score multiple goals. A number of other prop bets are also available.
MLS Showdown contests are also live
Daily fantasy players can also get involved with the MLS tourney via DraftKings’ Showdown contests. Players have to select a captain who receives 1.5 points and then five other flex players who accrue traditional point values.
The featured $10 DraftKings contest has an impressive $20K prize pool and pays out $5K to first. There are many other contests available at other price points as well.
Philadelphia Union looking to go two-for-two
The encore arrives Tuesday night.
Pennsylvania’s only MLS team, the Philadelphia Union, look to stay perfect in the league’s restart.
For bettors and fans alike, it’s an opportunity that hasn’t arrived very often in the last few months. You can cheer on the local team. Perhaps enliven the action with a wager or two. And maybe even celebrate a victory at the end of it.
That all happened last Thursday. But Tuesday night is a new game.
The encore is about to begin.
