Parx Casino has plans to keep expanding.

The Bensalem casino is planning to build a 15-story hotel on casino grounds.

Parx Casino just opened a mini-casino in Shippensburg on Jan. 26.

Parx Casino’s plan to build hotel

PlayPennsylvania first reported in January 2021 that Parx sent an internal email to employees providing details on the proposed hotel idea.

Those plans appear to be coming to fruition as Parx received zoning approvals to build a 15-story hotel in December, according to Bensalem Township Building and Planning Director Ken Farrall at the latest township meeting last month.

Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo confirmed on Wednesday that Parx got zoning approval, according to the Patch.

Parx has not come forward with plans as of yet. Farrall said in December that Parx is making changes to the plans and would likely bring it to council in January’s meeting. That does not appear to have happened. The next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 13.

Pennsylvania casinos with hotels

Parx would be the latest casino to have added a hotel to the casino. Parx would join Live! Casino Philadelphia and Valley Forge Casino as the only two in the Greater Philadelphia area with a hotel. Harrah’s Philadelphia and Rivers Casino Philadelphia do not have them.

The latest hotel to hit the Keystone State is The Landing Hotel. The new facility opened up last fall and is attached to Rivers Casino Pittsburgh.
