Woman holding up a mobile phone with a blackjack dealer on it. PA online table games are projected to produce more than $100 million more than 2023's output, proving the rising popularity of the titles.

Through the first three months of 2024, online table games are on pace to produce $586.4 million in revenue this year, which would be more than a $100 million increase from 2023.

While table games will never reach the height of slots, which generated $177.5 million gross revenue just in March, the popularity of the table titles are starting to grow.

Online operators have expanded live dealer offerings, too, which has helped PA online casino revenue soar.

Online table games in Pennsylvania becoming more popular

PA online casinos as a whole have been clicking on all cylinders as of late. Operators generated $233.1 million in earnings last month, breaking a US record.

It’s no surprise that slots are considered the main revenue-generator. However, online table games recorded $56.4 million and $53.1 million in February and March revenue, respectively. That’s a sharp increase from Q4 2023 and into January, which looks like:

  • September: $42.4 million
  • October: $42.6 million
  • November: $46.4 million
  • December: $45.8 million
  • January: $36.9 million

Despite the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) breaking down revenue by licensee and not by operator, Valley Forge Casino, partnered with FanDuel and Stardust, generated $19.7 million in earnings. The top licensee, Hollywood Penn National, partners with DraftKings, BetMGM, Fanatics and Hollywood, produced $22.6 million combined.

It’s clear that FanDuel Casino PA makes the majority of the revenue for the Valley Forge licensee, and therefore leads the state in table games earnings.

Keystone State operators offering tons of themed online table games

While some online casinos offer more than 1,000 slot titles for players, table games libraries have expanded, too. While blackjack is the most popular game for players, operators have been able to supply different variations of the game. For example, DraftKings Casino PA has the following blackjack games:

  • Multihand
  • Singlehand
  • Match the Dealer
  • Classic
  • Double Deck

DraftKings provides different variations of the game, which alone keeps players interested. However, the operator also provides themed blackjack games, which include:

  • Baseball, basketball, football, hockey and soccer
  • Pride
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas
  • Retro
  • Vacation
  • WWE

Adding themed blackjack games is endearing to players from all walks of life, welcoming them to play and enjoy DraftKings’ games.

While DraftKings offers tons of themes, BetMGM Casino PA caters to Pennsylvania sports fans. The operator contains several professional sports themed table games, which include:

  • 76ers blackjack
  • 76ers roulette
  • Steelers blackjack pro
  • Steelers roulette

In addition to the themed games, operators have been adding more tables in general. Some of the new games include:

  • Casino War
  • Jacks or Better: Double Up
  • Super Sic Bo

It seems like Pennsylvania players are enjoying the new table games operators are providing as of late.

PA live dealer impact on table games revenue

Pennsylvania live dealer games have been another reason for the spike in table games revenue over the past two months. During the FY 2022/2023, the PGCB announced that live dealer games accounted for more than 50% online table games revenue in its annual report.

We’ll have to wait and see the FY 2023/2024 results. However, it’s extremely likely live dealer popularity has increased.

So much so, Evolution Gaming, who powers live dealer games in PA, announced the launch of Super Bic Bo last December. It also disclosed that Crazy Coin Flip will be available for players at some point this year.

Evolution has also added game shows, such as Lightning Roulette and Crazy Time, which has been a massive success in Pennsylvania. Players have shown a liking to the game show theme, which might be the new direction of live dealer games.

As Evolution was releasing new games, it also attracted some competition in the Keystone State. Playtech, a technology company delivering products and services in the gaming industry, opened a live dealer facility in the state last December.

Playtech is a formidable competitor, which saw its live dealer vertical increase 24% last year, the company announced in an earnings call. That led to Playtech opening a third studio in Pennsylvania, where it has high aspirations. Playtech’s other two facilities are in New Jersey and Michigan.

Online table games are not expecting to slow down anytime soon. In fact, we predict that the games pick up more steam through the rest of 2024, especially with some added competition.
