The Westmoreland Diversity Coalition, a nonprofit organization promoting inclusion, is holding a diversity conference at Live! Casino Pittsburgh from May 8-10.
The Make It Matter Regional Conference will be held at the property’s The Venue Live!
The Cordish Gaming Group, which also operates Live! Casino Philadelphia, is making an effort to provide valuable insights on the importance of diversity in the workplace.
Live! Casino Pittsburgh opens property to Westmoreland Diversity Coalition conference
The Cordish Gaming Group is having the Westmoreland Make It Matter Regional Conference at its Live! Casino Pittsburgh property this May.
The conference will help regional employers, managers, human resource professionals and executive leaders:
- Learn the importance of diversity and strategically managing inclusion as a critical business imperative.
- Discover how to drive transformational performance and growth in your organization.
- Receive tools to support diversity and inclusion and clearly establish the role of each employee in achieving inclusion and high performance.
Sean Sullivan, Board Member of the Westmoreland Diversity Coalition and General Manager of Live! Casino Pittsburgh, said in a press release emailed to PlayPennsylvania:
“The Cordish Companies has a long history of investing in sustainable and inclusive projects in the communities they serve. Supporting this conference and other initiatives through the Live! in the Community program will go a long way to promote growth and vibrancy in our region.”
Pennsylvania will be well-represented at the conference.
Deputy Chief Counsel of Administration and Director of Diversity for Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), Mozelle Daniels, will speak at the event. Todd Snovel, Chief Leadership and Engagement Officer of County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania, is also scheduled to address the audience.
And, several more guest speakers are slated to attend the conference in May.
Diversity information on Live! Casino Pittsburgh and Philadelphia properties
Westmoreland’s commitment is to make the community “more inviting and diverse through county-wide programs and events, community conversations and educational material,” according to its website. The Make It Matter Regional Conference is a perfect example of an event that attempts to bring people together.
Live! Casino Pittsburgh has improved numbers slightly over the last two years. According to the PGCB’s FY 2022/2023 diversity report, Live! Casino Pittsburgh reported the following employment by race statistics:
- Caucasian: 84%
- Other: 6%
- African American: 5%
- Hispanic: 3%
- Asian: 2%
In FY 2021/2022, the property employed 88% caucasians and 3% African Americans.
Live! Casino Philadelphia, on the other hand, is one of the more diverse casinos within the state. Its employment data by race for the FY 2022/2023 shows:
- Caucasian: 38%
- African American: 32%
- Asian: 19%
- Hispanic: 8%
- Other: 4%
