Not only did Pennsylvania online casinos set a new record in December, the vertical is absolutely shattering previous totals. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) reported that operators brought in $281.2 million in gross December revenue.

Pennsylvania online casino revenue is reaching new heights that have never been seen before. Operators set a high mark in November, which generated $252.2 million. December toppled that figure rather easily.

That’s an increase of 11.5% month-over-month. The year-over-year increase is that much more impressive, coming in at 37.7%.

Breakdown of online casino December 2024 PA revenue

  • Online slots revenue: $221,776,208
  • Table games revenue: $56,918,937
  • Online poker revenue: $2,473,179

Quick analysis from December PA iGaming figures

Hollywood Penn National license crosses $100 million

The PGCB does not break down revenue by operator, so it’s difficult to see the exact impact each platform makes. However, the Hollywood Penn National license reaching $100 million in a single month for the first time is no small feat.

The license contains two of three market leaders in the state, which are DraftKings and BetMGM. Small, but mighty, operators round up the license, which include Fanatics and Hollywood Casino.

It’s no secret that DraftKings and BetMGM make the majority of the revenue. However, Fanatics and Hollywood Casino are growing in their own rights.

Fanatics has seen revenue increase in states such as Michigan and New Jersey. There’s no reason to believe that isn’t happening in Pennsylvania, too. Hollywood Casino launched a standalone app in the middle of December, which could have already started to gain traction.

Since DraftKings and BetMGM each offer thousands of titles for customers, it’s no surprise that those operators are carrying the license. Don’t take Fanatics and Hollywood Casino for granted, either, as these four platforms have become a powerhouse for Hollywood Penn National.

Operators total $2.71 billion in 2024 earnings

Operators certainly turned in a banner year for 2024 in just about every way possible. The industry set five records last year, coming in February, March, October, November and December.

There was only one month in 2024 where platforms didn’t reach $200 million. Those days appear to be in the rearview.

The popularity in online casinos resulted in a new record yearly total of $2.71 billion in 2024, which shattered 2023’s figure of $2.11 billion. That’s over a 28% increase.

The vertical has its eyes set on new goals in 2025. Those consist of the first $300 million month in iGaming history and possibly reaching $3 billion in earnings for the year.

PA iGaming operators contributed nearly $950 million in tax revenue in 2024

Pennsylvania has one of the higher tax structurers among states with legal online casinos. Online slots are taxed at 54% as table games are set at 16%.

Despite the rates, that hasn’t stopped operators from joining the Keystone State, which include bet365 and Fanatics in 2024. Because of the rates, the vertical produced $948 million in tax revenue for the Commonwealth in 2024.

That has brought the lifetime total to $2.98 billion, which should cross $3 billion this month.

It’s safe to say iGaming has been a welcomed addition to the Commonwealth.
