New holiday-themed PA Lottery scratch-off tickets contributed to a larger than usual monthly prize total last month. A number of big wins pushed the total sum of scratch-off prizes claimed to more than $211 million in November.

That’s the highest amount claimed on scratch-offs in any single month this year. By contrast, October scratch-off winnings totaled less than $196 million, and September winnings were about $203 million.

One single ticket bumped the monthly prize total up by a significant $5 million. That prize was the final top prize on the $5 Million Money Maker ticket that was released in December last year.

The winning ticket was sold in Allegheny County at Giant Eagle, 5550 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh. The retailer earned a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

PA Lottery scratch-off update

The $5 Million Money Maker was the PA Lottery’s first and only $50 scratch-off ticket, created to celebrate the lottery’s 50 year anniversary.

With the $5 Million Money Maker tapped out, the highest prize you can win on a PA Lottery scratch-off is $3 million (only on tickets priced at $30). As luck would have it, three players hit $3 million wins in November. Here are the games that awarded the $3 million prizes and the locations where they were sold:

  • L & P Express, 5520 Whitaker Avenue, Philadelphia – $3 Million Diamonds and Gold
  • Sheetz, 2401 Washington Road, Washington County – $3 Million Snow Bank
  • Davis’ Trading Post, 1 West Winona Avenue, Delaware County – $3 Million Extreme Tripler

All three retailers received a bonus of $10,000 for selling the winning tickets.

Big wins continued with four $1 million PA Lottery winners in November

Merry Million ticket

That’s not the end of the major scratch-off wins last month. There were four $1 million-winning tickets, sold in Clearfield, Dauphin, York and Allegheny counties. Two of those prizes came from the game $1 Million Ca$h Corner$, one was hit on Millionaire Bucks, and the other was won on a new holiday-themed ticket, We Wish You A Merry Million.

That makes two major wins on the new holiday tickets last month, the other being $3 Million Snow Bank, listed above.

Other big scratch-off wins across the state included:

  • Two prizes of $500,000
  • Three prizes of $300,000
  • Three prizes of $250,000
  • Six prizes of $200,000
  • Seven prizes of $100,000

New Year’s Millionaire Raffle tickets will award four $1 million winners

In other year-end lottery news, the New Year’s Millionaire Raffle is back this year, and tickets are currently available. The raffle features weekly drawings that award two winners of $50,000 leading up to the larger drawing on Jan. 7. That drawing will award four winners $1 million each, in addition to another $1 million in other prizes for a total of 6,000 winners.

A Millionaire Raffle ticket costs $20 and is automatically entered into the weekly drawing and the final drawing on Jan. 7. Only 500,000 tickets will be sold for the raffle. If all tickets are sold, the chances of a ticket hitting one of the $1 million prizes is 1 in 125,000. The overall chances of winning any prize are 1 in 83.

A reminder to gift responsibly this holiday season

The PA Lottery and problem gambling awareness organizations around the world are participating in the Gift Responsibly campaign, reminding players that lottery games are a form of gambling and are not appropriate gifts for children under 18 years old.

According to the National Council on Problem Gambling, research has shown that early exposure to gambling increases the risk of developing a gambling problem later in life. Please play and gift responsibly this holiday season.
