NFL Week 7 Odds For PHI vs. DAL: NFC East On The Line

Written By Katie Kohler on October 20, 2019 - Last Updated on May 20, 2021

Despite injuries and spells of ugly play, the Philadelphia Eagles visit the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night with first place in the NFC East on the line.

Both teams were popular plays among sports bettors for Week 6, according to PlaySugarHouse. The Cowboys (-7) saw 92% of the action, while the Eagles (+3.5) garnered 78% of the favor. However, neither team delivered. The Vikings picked apart the Eagles secondary en route to a 38-20 victory. The Cowboys fell 24-22 to the Sam Darnold-led Jets.

Most online betting sites in Pennsylvania have the Eagles as three-point underdogs for their visit to Dallas.

Eagles vs. Cowboys preview

After starting the season 3-0, the Cowboys dropped three straight. The Eagles (3-3) are familiar with the Cowboys (3-3) recent opponents. The Eagles beat both of the Cowboys’ past two opponents. Philadelphia routed the Jets (sans Sam Darnold) 31-6 and bested the Packers 34-27.

The Cowboys have won three-straight games against the Eagles. However, all wins were by seven or fewer points.

The Eagles’ depleted secondary hopes Jalen Mills returns to action. Linebacker Nigel Bradham left the Vikings game with an ankle injury and his status for Sunday is unclear. Carson Wentz and the Eagles offense are still missing the explosiveness of DeSean Jackson, who has been sidelined since Week 2.

The Eagles defense will get another tough test against Dallas’ offense which is ranked second in the NFL. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (1,883 yards), running back Ezekiel Elliot (491 rush yards, 5 TD), and Amari Cooper (515 rec yards) all rank in the top five statistically at their positions.

Cooper left the Jets game with a thigh bruise, leaving the Cowboys thin at wide receiver since Randall Cobb (back) was out. Other injured Cowboys include offensive tackles Tyron Smith (ankle) and La’el Collins (knee).

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Minnesota Vikings: A look back

The Vikings took advantage of the Eagles’ decimated defense to the tune of 447 total yards of offense. Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins continued to rack up huge numbers against the Birds passing for 333 yards and four touchdowns. The Eagles secondary could not contain Stefon Diggs whose 51-yard and 61-yard touchdowns put the Eagles in a 24-3 hole early in the second quarter. It was an all-around poor effort from the defense who, for the first time this season, surrendered more than 100 rushing yards.

It was an easy cover (-3) for the Vikings and over (44) during the Vikings 38-20 win.
