The Buffalo slot is considered to be one of the most popular retail slots at casinos across the country. Replicating the game for online casinos in Pennsylvania was a no-brainer.
According to the Eilers-Fantini report, the online version of Buffalo finished first in gross gaming revenue (GGR) across the US in November, which is an impressive feat considering the game has only been live since September.
Slots have been a huge success for PA online casinos, along with live dealer games, and don’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
Buffalo ranked as No. 1 game at Pennsylvania online casinos
BetMGM Casino PA made a smart decision to launch one of the most popular retail slots in its online app. And it didn’t take long for the game to climb up the ranks.
The Eilers-Fantini report said that Buffalo recorded the highest GGR percentage of 4.55%, moving ahead of International Game Technology’s (IGT) blackjack table game. The report lists the top 10 games based on GGR across the US for November:
- Buffalo (slot)
- Blackjack (table game)
- Cash Eruption (slot)
- Fire And Roses Joker (slot)
- Lightning Roulette (live dealer)
- Mega Diamond (slot)
- Gold Blitz (slot)
- Blackjack (live dealer)
- Roulette (live dealer)
- 88 Fortunes (slot)
BetMGM, which partnered with Anaxi, launched Buffalo in early September, and only in New Jersey to start. The new title made its way to PA online casinos and Michigan later in the fall.
BetMGM Chief Revenue Officer Matt Prevost said back in September:
“BetMGM is honored to be the first online destination for Buffalo. We are ready to bring the thrill and excitement of Buffalo to our players in New Jersey and additional states this fall. Anaxi captured the fast-paced elements of Buffalo which players love and are now able to experience in the palm of their hands.”
The good news for PA online casino players is that Buffalo can be played on other casinos besides BetMGM. Here are some of the additional operators that carry the slot title:

Live dealer and slots are most popular options with PA online casinos
Eilers-Fantini has another report that lists the top overall games based on theoretical win (Theo), which is the expected house win for a player based on the total amount wagered by the player and the game played.
Buffalo, again, was first on the list with several other slots and live dealer games. Fire And Roses Joker and Pile Em Up, supplied by Digital Gaming Corporation (DGC), rounded out the top three.
Evolution Gaming, which powers live dealer games in Pennsylvania, had three games on the list, including:
- Speed Baccarat
- Bonanza
- VIP Blackjack
It’s no secret that PA slots and live dealer games are the most played titles on online casinos in the state. Of the $5.43 billion in lifetime online casino revenue, slots generate 74.2% of the total. There are more than 8,500 slots available for PA players across 21 platforms.
Live dealer games are not as popular as slots, however, there’s a strong market for the games. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) reported that live dealer games “account for more than 50%” of online table games revenue. During FY 2022/2023, operators brought in $428.5 million in table games earnings. Live dealer games contributed at least $214 million.
Neither the slot nor live dealer vertical is showing any signs of slowing down. Operators continue to keep a fresh slot library with new game launches. For instance, Evolution Gaming has been launching new titles.
It still feels as if the industry is just scratching the surface.
