Tonight’s Mega Millions estimated jackpot for Friday, Aug. 14, rumbles on to $31 million. A cash option of $24.9 million for the possible winner is also available.
Just to quickly recap, the previous Mega Millions winning numbers, for Tuesday, Aug. 11, were 8 – 22 – 29 – 43 – 56 and a Megaball of 9. The Megaplier was 4x.
In our previous Mega Millions coverage, we explained that the Mega Millions has eliminated minimum increases to jackpots for the time being. Although this partially explains the smaller increase, there is another reason for it.
Two big Mega Millions winners for Aug. 11
Actually, two big winning tickets resulted from the Aug. 11 Mega Millions drawings.
The first winner won through a “Match 5,” meaning all five white balls matched, resulting in a $1 million prize. The second winner not only matched all five balls but opted for the $1 Megaplier. This means that the winning ticket’s $1 million prize was multiplied to $4 million.
If that’s not reason enough to play the Multiplier, then we really don’t know what is.
