The Mega Millions jackpot is soaring again.
For tonight, which is Tuesday, Sept. 1, the Mega Millions estimated jackpot grows to $78 million. In the event that a lucky winner prefers a one-time cash payout, the winnings would be $61.1 million.
For the previous drawing on Friday, Aug. 28, the winning numbers were 3 – 9 – 50 – 53 – 64 and a gold Megaball of 1. The Megaplier was 3x.
Although no one hit the big jackpot, one lucky winner from the Virgin Islands matched all five white balls and opted for the $1 Megaplier option. This turns what would have been a $1 million prize into an astonishing $3 million instead.
