It’s Friday, and that means another Mega Millions drawing takes place tonight. Since the last big win on July 29, the grand prize has been rising rapidly. With no new winner for almost a month, the jackpot prize is now estimated at $135 million.
The lump sum cash value of tonight’s jackpot is $75.8 million, before taxes. That’s the amount a winner would get if they choose to take their prize in a single payment instead of the 30 annual annuity payments.

Historic jackpot winner hasn’t come forward yet
It’s hard to believe it’s almost been a month since the last Mega Millions jackpot hit in Illinois. That prize was the second largest in Mega Millions history. The $1.33 billion jackpot hit on July 29 also ranked as the third largest of any lottery prize in the US. Powerball has had only one prize larger, which was split by three winners in 2016.
The recent Mega Millions prize, however, was hit by just a single ticket. Multiple news agencies published reports today confirming that the Illinois winner has not claimed the prize yet.
However, the PA Lottery reported today that the most recent Powerball jackpot winner in PA has claimed their prize. Taylor O. from Washington County was the winner of the $206.9 million prize from the Aug. 3 drawing. He bought the winning ticket at a Sheetz store in New Stanton.
